The Freiburg manager has showered praise on his new-look side for their impressive display against FC Augsburg on Saturday.
This season’s Bundesliga relegation contenders, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/SC-Freiburg-c40462, made an impressive start to the second-half by registering a nervy win over their relegation counterparts, Augsburg.
It was the first game in charge for Christian Streich, who became the first Freiburg tactician since Volker Finke to register a win on his debut.
Former boss, Marcus Sorg, was released during the ongoing winter transfer window following the lack of positive results during the first-half of the competition.
Streich fielded a relatively new side after the departures of some key players in the January transfer window. The likes of Papiss Cisse and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Heiko-Butscher-c15983 left the club to join Newcastle United and Eintracht Frankfurt respectively.
The home side missed http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Felix-Bastians-c13552 due to injury and the manager was forced to field a depleted side. The tactician’s confidence in his young players paid off as the team registered its fourth win of the season.

While talking to the official Bundesliga website, the former Freiburg assistant manager further insisted:
"A win like that is good for the soul. I was happy to see that everyone wanted the ball and that they put in so much effort."
Streich added that his team played exceptionally well, and showed great confidence in absence of a few big names. He stressed that it is important for him to see the team performing, and he would have praised the side even if they
did not win.
"We could just as easily have lost. I would have praised my team anyway, irrespective of the scoreline, because it's more important to see how the players react on the pitch, how brave they are, how much they invest in the game,"
he concluded.
As a result of Saturday’s win, Freiburg have now moved up one place to the 17th spot, and will take on http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/1-FSV-Mainz-05-c38166 in their next game on Sunday, January 29.
