The former Borussia Dortmund defender has showered praise on the recent development of the Black Yellows.
Former Borussia Dortmund defender, Christian Worns, has expressed his delight with the recent rise of his former employers in the Bundesliga. He mentioned that it is very pleasing to see Dortmund winning titles after their series
of inconsistent performances in the previous few years.
The 40-year-old congratulated the team for successfully defending their crown and also Jurgen Klopp, who has been the mainstay behind Dortmund’s success. He stated that he feels proud to have become a part of such impressive unit
once and wished them success in the future too.
Worns admitted that last year was bit of a surprise when the Borussians won the crown but this season they richly deserved the feat. He mused that the last term’s victory gave them enough self confidence and they believed that
the 2011/12 campaign could also belong to them if they continue performing impressively and tell the world that it was not just a fluke.
While talking to sports website, Goal.com, the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904 international further added:
"Their development is very impressive. Things have really gone uphill in the past four years. That they have now won two consecutive Bundesliga titles makes things even more impressive. Last year was perhaps a bit of a surprise,
but they successfully defended their title, which is quite something. They have every reason to be proud with such a fantastic performance."
On the other hand, he also went on to praise the individual quality of the team and tipped them as favourites against Bayern Munich in the upcoming DFB-Pokal final on May 12. He stated that the Borussians are lucky enough to have
the players such as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Robert-Lewandowski-c31255 and Mario Gotze in their ranks, who could turn the match on its head when it matters the most.
"Dortmund have some very talented individuals as well, or they would not have won the Bundesliga title. You can't achieve something like that without individual quality,” Worns concluded.
Dortmund have already won this season’s Bundesliga and can also complete a double by extending their unbeaten run against the Munich giants when the two teams meet in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Berlin-c7536 for the German Cup decider.
