I am 19 years old and I went to jail Saturday. Neighbors call in because I was hitting my husband. Which I know is really bad and not right. He said that he was going to d**k slap me. I am a christian and I felt really upset that he would say that to me. I have never got in trouble. So when the cops get there they ask me what happened. They asked them if I hit him and I was completely honest. My husband was on the other side telling the other officers his side of the story. He was also honest. They take me to jail for assault. He was not mad and he did not want me to go to jail. So when I left he asked the cops if he could get me out right now and they said no if he wanted to get me out he would have to get me out early in the morning. So my husband bail bond me out of jail. The next day I had to go sign some papers. I had a bond for 1,500. My husband paid two hundred dollars to get me out. They said that I had to go to court about two or three more times. And that I needed to hire an attorney. I am so mixed up right now because I never been in trouble before and all this is confusing and new for me. I don't understand I think they should have got me for disturbing of the peace and gave me a ticket. Since my husband could care less and all. That night when I went to jail they told me I tore my husbands back all up. Looked like finger nail scratches. So I asked my husband to show me the marks on his back and he said he didn't have any. Since he doesn't know very much english he told me that the police told him to turn around and he said they were shaking there head yes. I guess like that was enough to take me to jail. But my husband said that was him making those marks he was scraching his back in front of all of them from the mosquitos. So now I am in Arkansas and I was reading on the back of this card that I got from the bail place it says something about jumping bail. I don't know if that is what I am doing right now because I don't have a house I travel with my husband from state to state city to city where ever they tell him to work. But my drivers licsence has the address where I used to live with my mom. Which is the place I got arrested at. Am I jumping bond. Please read carefully everything I have shared and help me out with the best of your knowledge I am new with all of this stuff. And don't want to be in trouble. What should I do. What do you think about my story can you help me out. Tips and advice accepted please. God Bless you all!! Take care stay out of trouble!

  1. Your question is too long for me to read. im very sorry.  i hope it all works out for you.  dont hit people anymore

  2. You cannot leave the state or area that you are in otherwise you will be jumping bail and it will cost you the price of the entire bond and your case will be made a lot worse than it is.  You must appear in court (with your husband if he will come) and stand before the judge.  Your husband must testify that he did not hit you nor did you hit him. Those scratches on his back were made by him by scratching....but make sure that he can reach those scratches because he may be asked to show the scratches and how they were made.  If you made the scratches then he and you must say so at first.  Do not lie before the judge. If your husband will drop all charges and tell the court that it was merely a husband and wife spat (the first you have ever had if this is so) and it will not happen again.  You are a happy couple and rarely argue.  Your husband will not press charges ad he would like the matter to be dropped.  You will undoubtedly lose the $150-200 for the bail bond. Play it very cool and don't come on strong.  Show the judge that you both love each other. DO NOT LEAVE THE STATE AND SHOW UP AT THE COURT ON TIME.

  3. Most states, including Texas, mandate an arrest be made when there is domestic violence and it is obvious that something happened to at least one person, often through statements and/or marks.  You need to either hire an attorney or tell the court you don't have enough money to hire an attorney and have one appointed.  (They will decided if you have money or not and need one.)

You definately need to get back home.  I don't care what is going on, get back home.  If you don't, and it's discovered that you left, you could be arrested and placed in jail without any way out until you go to court.

  4. Yes, you are jumping bond by leaving state if it is in the bond agreement but if you return to court on time you are not jumping bond. A self paid lawyer will get it dropped to disturbing the peace because only the state will pick up charges if your husband drops charges. Please keep your imaginary friend for adults to yourself.
