Christian vs. Dashing Cody Rhodes
It was just a couple of weeks ago when the Sinister Scotsman, Drew McIntyre fought with Christian and injured him after breaking his left arm. Christian came back to Smack Down and his first challenge was Dashing Cody Rhodes, son of the famous wrestler, Dusty Rhodes. Drew McIntyre who teamed up with Cody a couple of weeks ago told Cody about Christian’s weakness and his injury. He asked Cody to attack Christian’s left arm and pin him in the middle of the ring. It was important for Cody Rhodes to win his match to maintain his reputation in front of his tag team partner, Drew McIntyre.
On the other hand, Christian who is a veteran wrestler and is the former ECW champion, needed to impress his wrestling fans after an absence of two weeks. After getting beaten by Drew McIntyre and receiving the injury many wrestling pundits doubted his wrestling ability. They said that the days when Christian ruled the ring with his high flying, high powered maneouvers are over and young wrestlers like Dashing Cody Rhodes and Drew McIntyre will rule the ring in the future. Both wrestlers squared off in the ring to permanently settle the score.
Dashing Cody Rhodes started the fight with some high powered offensive maneouvers and cornered Christian. Rather than delivering simple punches or kicks, Cody focused on Christian’s left arm and started applying pressure on the weak point. It seemed that Cody was following the advice of Drew McIntyre and started the attack at the point where Drew finished two weeks ago. But then Christian showed wrestling fans that why he is called the veteran wrestler as he picked Cody Rhodes and tossed him on the concrete floor outside the ring.
This was not enough, as Christian took a big leap of faith and jumped over the top rope to land on an already confused Cody Rhodes. It seemed that Cody had few moves in his arsenal as he again attacked Christian’s injured left arm. Slowly and gradually Cody Rhodes started increasing the pressure on the left arm. Christian was screaming in pain and it seemed that he would tap out at any moment to avoid any permanent injury. But then Christian gathered all his strength and stood up on his two feet. But before Christian could do anything, Cody picked him up and slammed him hard on the ring floor.
Cody tried to take advantage of the situation and immediately went for the cover but Christian kicked out before the referee’s final count of three. Christian was showing some great resilience in the match as he was fighting despite the injured left arm. He then shifted the momentum of the fight as he ran in the ring and delivered his knee to Cody Rhodes’s abdomen. It was a huge blow for Cody who thought that he had the match firmly in his grip.
Christian took some measured steps and slapped Cody in his face. Cody was furious as he despises getting hit on his face. Dashing Cody Rhodes who was voted 'the most handsome wrestler' by WWE divas gives special attention to his face. The slap triggered a chain reaction and enraged Cody Rhodes, who grabbed Christian and executed his wrestling finisher called the Cross Roads.
This was an effective wrestling finisher as Christian rolled in the air and fell face first on the ring floor. It was all over as Cody went for the cover and the referee counted to three with both Christian’s shoulders touching the ring floor. That was a huge win for Cody Rhodes who raised his hand to mark his victory. This win has brought Cody Rhodes one step closer to becoming the number one contender for the Inter Continental Championship.
