Christians, Atheists, and all religions: What do you think about McCain's running partner Palin?

"Speaking before the Pentecostal church, Palin painted the current war in Iraq as a messianic affair in which the United States could act out the will of the Lord."

Personally, I think she's scary. It would be great to have a woman in office...but not this woman. What do you think?

  1. Terrifying that she has a slight chance of being #2 in charge of the US.

  2. I think she's more than a little touched in the head, and I'm hoping that people will be smart enough not to vote her into office (and knowing the people in this country, the thought's not very hopeful).

And whether McCain supporters like it or not, he's probably going to croak in office and then she'll become prez, and I am NOT going to be stuck with her!

And in that case, it's Canada or bust!

    h**l, I'd even take Mexico...

    Anywhere that's not here!

  3. I agree, I don't care much for her position on almost every issue.  I think McCain chose her simply because she is a woman, so that his candidacy will be equally ground-breaking as Obama's, and to try to pick up the embittered Hillary supporters.

  4. Republicans usually have their best success when they nominate nutjobs.

Though I'm not sure I can even remember a Republican candidate who was anything else.

  5. Wow, is that true? Personally, I don't think the war in Iraq has anything to do with Jesus. We can't just go around saying because we beleive in Jesus, we are always right.

  6. I'm always for democrats all the way!

  7. I think she's a fundie who I don't want anywhere near power. I completely agree with you.

  8. I think I'm voting Democrat!

  9. Are you saying the will of God is crazy?

God does keep a record, you know.

  10. Well McCain picked the fundiest fundie that he could find

  11. So far, so good...I like her.

Thing is, you are citing something she said in church about her religious beliefs...I'm far more concerned with her political decisions than her personal beliefs and from what I know at the moment, I think she'd do a good job.

  12. She's a MILF.

I'm a Libertarian so she's way too socially conservative, but that's better than a liberal Obama. I'd rather have people talk about God than have my taxes go up.

  13. Isn't there a third party we can vote for? I'm not too fond of Obama, and I'm NOT Republican...

  14. Hello,

As an outsider I find it was probably a smart move. Many disappointed people hoping that Senator Clinton would be Democratic candidate for presidency still had hopes she'd be vice - president, ie Obama's running mate. Such disappointment may translate into more votes for the Republicans.

    Cheers,

    Michael Kelly

  15. I think she is a bold, creative, change candidate.

    McCain gets an A+.

Obama was a predicable, solid, status quo candidate.

    Obama gets a C.

    --------------------------------------...

In my opinion the criticism of Palin to date is sexist and largely irrelevant, which leads me to believe that the powers that be in the D party also see that choice as bold and change oriented.

    --------------------------------------...

Although I have not made up my mind as of yet, I am planning to vote for a third party candidate in November...although I am still considering voting for Obama simply because I would like to see a minority be elected president.

    --------------------------------------...

For the record my voting record in the Presidential races has been:

    R - 4 times

    D - 2 times

    I - 2 times

  16. Personally I think the fundie and the atheist alike are acting out the will of God.  The will of God is that we choose to follow Him or not.

And so we choose and thus fulfill his will.

Governments are not much different, just large globs of people choosing.

  17. I was for Obama anyways.

However, even if I liked McCain slightly more then Obama, I would drop him in a heartbeat after picking her. I disagree with her on almost everything completely, and McCain is old- she has a pretty good chance of becoming president if she gets lucky! Scary thought, if you ask me.

  18. Wow. I knew she was fundie, but not THAT fundie...

She takes the fun out of fundamentalist!

  19. Enough.  Enough, enough, enough of fundamentalists in our public offices.  They have far too much influence, far too much impact, and they're hurting all of us.  Get them out. I will never vote for a Republican as long as they hold fundamentalist views.

I don't know much about Palin other than she's a raving fundamentalist.  We don't need to inflict that on ourselves or the world...again.

MVD--if the reasons we object to Palin are sexist (I can barely stifle the chuckles, as I'd have gladly voted for Hillary had she won the nomination), then does that make your reason for supporting Obama racist?  Can you see a reason for voting for him other than just wanting to see a minority in the White House?

The objections to Palin are centered around her being a raging religious fundamentalist, and have nothing to do with her being a woman.  Perhaps, if I might indulge in the same motivation attribution that you do, you see her gender as a problem?

  20. I don't know about Palin but McCain I thought he was an satanist?

  21. personally, i like her. she is strong and speaks her mind. i think people forget sometimes that one single person in office can not make too much of a difference. people blame stuff on Pres Bush and yet... and yet.... they forget the congressional approval process.... gracious.

  22. I think she really helped me get off the fence.

    Obama it is.

  23. If what you say is true, I would agree that she is scary.  Otherwise, I like the McCain team.

    <(((><

  24. Her stance: abstinence only education.

Well, if she had taught her kid about birth control, maybe she wouldn't be in such a state.

Also, we don't need to teach creationism at school. Do it at home. Religion and state should be separate.

We need a strong woman. Not a crazy fundie.

  25. She's white trash of the worst kind. Her record is dismal. Trying to ban books from public libraries, promoting shooting at endangered wildlife from planes, abstinence only as her s***k daughter gets knocked up, firing people out of personal vengeance, promoting religious ignorance as science in public schools, the list goes on. This woman belongs in a sitcom, not the whitehouse.

  26. Everything about her freaks me out, to be honest with you.  I'm beyond flabbergasted that McCain chose her to be his running mate.  I don't understand what the heck he could have been thinking.  His campaign is based on "Country First", and trying to suggest that Obama doesn't put his country first, and he chooses a woman who has ties to a group that was trying to get Alaska to secede from the U.S. as his running mate.  He's either getting senile, or he's smoking crack.

  27. I wonder what she thinks is the origin of oil and the age of the deposits?

  28. I will be watching the Republican Convention tonight to hear her.  So far, she has my vote.

  29. Here is the link of her saying that.  She is an unqualified, dumb, white trash nut job.  She was only picked to pander to the other fundi nut jobs.
