If Mary, the mother of Jesus never sinned and pride is considered a sin, did Mary not feel pride of giving birth to Jesus ? Or when an angel came and told her what was going to come, did she not feel pride ?

  1. I do not believe that Mary never sinned, but there is no indication that Mary felt pride at the birth of Jesus or when she was told she would give birth to Him.

It is certainly possible, but it seems more likely to me that being around an angel and then later the Son of God humbled her.

Ever notice that when angels show up in the Bible, people always try to worship them, and the angel will say something like, "Get up. Worship God, not me." I am under the impression that experiences with angels and the divine are humbling, not pride inducing.

  2. "My soul doth magnify the Lord...."

This is one of the greatest prayers in the bible

  3. Mary sinned. God chose her to bear His Son because she was a humble woman who trusted God. I'm more ready to believe she was frightened when the Angel told her God's plan. I'm also sure she had some times of joy, wonder, amazement and blessing as a result.

Mary wouldn't have been chosen by God if she was arrogant or prideful. God had to be able to trust the woman He chose to carry and rear His Son, Jesus.

  4. Christian's don't think Mary was without sin... that will probably already have been stated a few times by the time I hit "submit"

Mary did sin, but I don't think this was a sin.

Pride that is sinful is that which is a false view of self

Pride as in "feeling good about something that you have done or are involved with" is not bad

  5. Everyone except God made sins including Mary.

  6. ummm...

every human commited sin except jesus

    also

mary may have birthed the human form of god

but she is not the mother of God.

and lastly, pride is one of the seven deadly sins, but i'm pretty sure they have nothing to do with christianity

  7. I don't think Mary was perfect, the only one that was perfect was her son JESUS!

  8. Hi Alex,

Catholics believe that Mary lived a perfect life.  They believe that she remained a virgin her entire life and is an intercessor who speaks on our behalf to Christ himself.

Well, actually, Mary, the mother of Jesus, was a SINNER!  She did NOT live a perfect life.  Read Luke 1:46-47.  It says, "And Mary said: 'My soul exalts the Lord, and my spirit has rejoiced in God my Savior.'"  She recognized her need for a savior!

There is only one who has lived a perfect and blameless life here on earth, and that is Jesus Christ, who is God himself!  He died on the cross for the sins of the world.  Anyone who believes that Jesus is God and accepts his free gift of salvation is forgiven and will spend eternity with him in heaven!

  9. Only Catholics believe that.  At least, as far as I know.

  10. i'm a firm believer that alot of the stuff in the bible is false. I believe in a God but not the God in the bible. This is becaus there are so many different personalities of God in the bible, and i feel like a bunch of men snuck in idiotic rules for us to live by to try to keep us " Rightious" While not realizing that we really cant become this false person they have created.

That being said i'm sure she did feel a lot of pride and if the story of Jesus is true or just a false story to teach us morals i'll never know for sure but if Mary really DID have Jesus, then i'm sure she felt pride

  11. Mary did committed sin, she's not perfect but rather a human like us..

  12. Did Jesus not feel pride when his father was "well pleased" with him? How come you have double standards? Anyway the other Mary said that Jesus said that "there is no sin". You Christians are obsessed with this thing you call sin, your religion is all about sin and blood and going to heaven.

  13. Jesus never sinned, Mary was born with original sin like all mankind.

  14. I don't know, let me ask her...

  15. Where do you get this idea that Mary never sinned? She was a good woman, but still human, after all.

  16. Feeling the joy of becoming a mother is not the sin pride or a sin.

    Note:

Mary wasn't perfect. She was a virgin when she had Jesus. She had children (after Jesus) so ceased to be a virgin.

The "me first attitude" (popular today) is a sin.

  17. Mary is not perfect. I don't believe she never sinned. Good woman, but still human like us.

  18. Alex is a troll.

  19. Why would she be proud of a b*****d son?

  20. mary did sin, this is a catholic belief not a christian

I rejoice in God my Savior!” Luke 1:47

all men have sinned, (including Mary), and fallen short of the glory of God[Rom 3:23]

    Get your story straight

  21. I don't think Mary was perfect.

I hope God blesses you today:)

  22. Nope.  She was just a good solder, a team player.  She was quite aware that she was merely a vessel and the God was doing all the work.

  23. who said she never sinned?the bible never said that, only the Lamb of God is without sin.

  24. No she wasn't arrogant, conceited, having no false humility.

  25. Obviously God chose her because he knew of her character. She wasn't just a random person. So, no.

  26. mary had s*x before marriage and lied about it to joseph. nope god didnt make her preggo, her secret lover did.

  27. No, she was very humble.

  28. no

She was awed by what God was doing but never pride as in look at what I have done by my own hand. That is why pride is a Sin. It takes credit for everything and leaves God out.

We use the term as in I take pride in my work which means I care about how i do things. I am proud to be a american. It means happy content to be a American.

The Sin pride means to take credit for all the things that happen in my life.
