Question:

Christians, why do you request some things from God? doesn't he know what's in your mind?

since you can't hide any thought from him, he knows what's in you head, so, are you trying to say that God doesn't know everything? are you insinuating that you need to tell him what to do?

if he knows what you think, why bother telling him what do you want?

  1. He told us to ask and we shall receive.  He wants to hear from His children.  It's not that He doesn't know.

  2. Sometimes our desires don't align with God's. Asking is a process to align these. But, I agree, when it's aligned, there is no need to ask, we and God have the same thoughts, then.

  3. Sure He knows what we need & what we want, but He also likes to hear our voices.  He wants us to come to Him when we need things.  He loves us.

  4. Because Jesus said, "ask and it shall be given you; knock and you shall be opened."  God does not believe in spoon-feeding; we must first open to God before he can come in.  This is not part of God knowing all things; this is about expressing our need for God.  How would you feel if you approach your own father and before you can even open your mouth he tells you, "Okey, cut the c**p I know you'll gonna ask me money again - i can read your thoughts!"  Even an powerful God cannot force himself on us.  The father of the prodigal son saw his son coming from afar and he knows he has been taught his lesson from the way he looked after leading a dissolute life in foreign lands.  Yet this father did not do anything until the prodigal son expressed his remorse and his desire to come back to his father's house.  Only then did he call for new robes to be given him and order the fattened calf to be prepared for this particular son.  Who do you think this father was?  We, Christians know this as a parable about the Heavenly Father( contrary to what unbelievers charge, we do know the difference between parables and historical passages of the bible) of whom the psalmist once wrote: " In my straits I called to the Lord, and he answered me."  Call on the Lord now, tell him what you have inside, and he will answer you back.

  5. Very intelligent question. You are right on target. Jesus suggested the same thing: He did not say "let my will be done." It was "let thy will be done." So prayer requests are opposed to what Jesus taught. More on my bio.

    Nice thinking. Very brilliant deduction.

  6. why do you ask your father for a soda when he knows you are thirsty?

when you are a baby, daddy gives, as a kid, daddy offers as an adult, he makes you ask, its respect, and teaching to be humble

  7. We pray because we are commanded to.

1 Thessalonians 5:17  Pray without ceasing.

James 5:16  The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

John 16:23  Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you.

There was in a city a judge, which feared not God, neither regarded man: And there was a widow in that city; and she came unto him, saying, Avenge me of mine adversary. And he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard man; Yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me. And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge saith. And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them? Luke 18:2-7

  8. God follows a process. Why would God give us things with out asking then we wouldn't know that the things He gave came from him.

  9. Because we're instructed (in that book you don't want me to mention or quote) to ask for what we need and desire.  Yes, He knows, and He also told us (in that same book you don't want me to mention or quote) that we should not worry about the things we need; that He will provide for us.
