  1. Well, considering there should be a separation between church and state, not necessarily.  I think teaching a class on world religions from a historical standpoint and what it means to have religions would be very beneficial for students.  I don't think it should be a requirement, however, but it would give students a more open mind and a more open heart to those who believe in certain faiths.

I think overall it could be a good thing if done properly.  However, realistically it just isn't very possible.

  2. I would love that. It would maybe deter some of the violence that occurs in schools.

  3. I think school should be used to learn the fundamentals. They need to totally overhaul the learning curriculum. Religion..  no.  That's what churches are for. Too many biased opinions in religion to have it taught.

  4. yes, it gave me insight to what other people in the world believe and i learned more about my own faith. i've had religion classes be a part of my school curriculum from kindergarten to senior year of high school bc of being in Catholic school my whole life

  5. Islam is currently being taught in some of California's grade schools!

Teaching any other Religion is illegal, But so is teaching Islam, but that little detail gets ignored.

If you do not believe me do some research yourself!

  6. Well in my school we already have it once a week and I thank thats enough or other students might complain

  7. Yes. I would like Christianity to be taught in schools.

  8. Why not have the option of a class like that taught in schools?  You're not forced into taking it and they'd have classes on religions that are wanted by the students, most likely Christianity, Islam, Mormonism, Judaism, ect depending where you live.

  9. Schools need to either teach creation, or not teach evolution.

  10. It is already part of the curriculum in high school in CA schools.

Of course people should have a basic understanding of the major world religions and how diff cultures, societies and countries are influenced by these beliefs.

We live in a global society and are part of a global economy.  Religions play a role in that world we live in.

  11. Yes that is for sure

  12. I went to Catholic school and... we HAD to take world religions classes... sooo I don't know what your question is haha- It's already there!

  13. We already have something close to that: Social Studies.

  14. As a believer, I would not like to teach "religion" in the schools.  I think it belongs in the designated church according to the faith it holds to be true. However, if it is a class that teaches strictly what the different "religions" are and their origin and history I would have no problem with that at all.  And of course not specifying one over the other as right or wrong.

  15. I think that would be fine.

I send my child to a private Christian school, and it might surprise you to know that part of the required curriculum IS a class on comparative/world religions.

  16. How about 1 class a week.  We learn far more from our pastors than non-Christians who don't know anything about truth.  It should just be acceptable for students to pray and to read the Bible for say 15 min. a day on their own or to give a testimony of how God answered their prayer.
