Not 6000 years ago; which claim is based on the Jewish Mesoretic text that was standardized well after 500AD.

This may not matter much to you, but some very interesting implications do arise from this fact.

  1. that doesn't matter, what matters is that my soul will be raptured

and by the way good thing you found that one out......at least there is some evidence of GOD creating Adam...this could be useful for those who doubt that God ever existed

  2. We dont' know for sure how many years-decades-centuries Adam and Eve resided in the garden before Eve bit that apple and they were forced to leave. Nothing states they bit the apple the day after they got there, and right away left the garden.

That is very interesting, I would love to research this more.

  3. No, I did not know that.  Thank you for telling me.

  4. Interesting.  If it is true, what are the implications? ♥

  5. Well, since the Bible never claims that the world is 6000 years old, I have no problem with this. I am a creationist, but have no opinions about the age of the earth. I just believe that God did it how He said He did, and there's no reason to insert an arbitrary number about the age of the earth into that.

  6. I would like to see the proof before i say anything. This info has nothing to do with our salvation though

  7. Jesus, son of David.

Do you see the implications of this?

Now go to your source and discover how your source calculates the date of the birth of Adam.   If your source uses a Bible genealogy anywhere in the computation (like so & so begat so & so),  your source never saw the implications of "Jesus, son of David" either.

David lived 900BC.   Jesus 1AD.   Yet, Jesus is David's son.   You cannot compute the age of the universe, the age of the earth or the age of Adam using a Bible genealogy.

Ancient Middle Eastern cultures, including the Hebrew culture, telescoped genealogies.   They purposely leave out generations so as to emphasis important members of the family tree, and to keep the interest of readers.   Hence, "Jesus, son of David."   The point of this telescoping, is that David was King of Israel, and that Jesus, the son of David, inherits David's throne.   Jesus is also the rightful king of Israel.

So what I am saying is simply this.  There is a 100% chance your source, like James Ussher who first came up the 6000 year old earth, took the Bible out of context because of Middle Eastern literary ignorance.

  8. Actually the manuscript your refer to isn't very trustworthy. Also, 1,550 years doesn't raise any real implications. Your question is really just a rant in disguise. It's not Halloween yet.

  9. whatever, its still millions of years away from the truth.

  10. Christians:  Did you know that your book, that you cling to with that G.I. Joe Kung-Fu grip, is full of fantasy and fiction?!

  11. Would love to know which manuscripts, and how reliable they are.

Actually, I do not think chronology is an exact science.  We can gain insights from chronology, but I don't think they were really put in the Bible to enable us to find out things like exactly when Adam was created.

But I'm not dogmatic about it.

    Just not sure.
