then why would god of given us these 8 useless body functions:

1) Plica semilunaris

You may not know it, but you have a third eyelid. Pull open the two more noticeable eyelids and take a look—it's located right in the corner by the tear duct. This small third eyelid is left over from what's known as a "nictitating membrane," which is still present in full form in some animals including chickens, lizards and sharks

2) Body hair

No doubt we were once hairier. Up until about three million years ago, we were covered with body hair. But by the time Homo erectus arrived, the ability to sweat meant we could shed our woolly ways

3) Adenoids

Adenoids trap bacteria, but they're also prone to swelling and infection. Just ask any seven-year-old. Luckily, our adenoids shrink with age and are often removed, along with...

4)Tonsils

Also prone to swelling and infection. If you still have them when you reach your 30s, it's almost an accomplishment

5) Coccyx

More useful as a game-winning Scrabble word than as part of the anatomy, the coccyx or tailbone, is made up of several fused vertebrae left over from the days when we had tails.

6) Arrector pili

When we were hairier (see No. 2), the arrector pili made the hairs stand on end when we needed to appear bigger and scarier. Now, it just gives us goose bumps

7) Wisdom teeth

Back in the day, when we ate mammoth meat off the bone and didn't floss afterward, our teeth tended to fall out. Therefore, when those reserve molars, aka "wisdom teeth," came in, they were welcomed. Nowadays, fluoride and dental plans have just made them a huge pain.

8) Appendix

Darwin claimed the appendix was useful for digestion during our early plant-eating years; it's dwindled down to little since we started eating more digestible foods.

  1. Don't forget ear muscles...they serve no purpose for any of the Great Apes.

I'm one of the people who can make my ears move a little bit and I can assure anyone that the muscle used for that is located along the side of the head, not in the ear itself, and it does not help your hearing in any way, shape, or form.

  2. It's called Un-Intelligent Design.

Btw, vestigial organs are not necessarily 'useless' - they've evolved to take on new bodily functions.

ie. Appendix is now used as a part of the immune system after primates evolved and no longer needed to digest cellulose.

Evolution didn't make these organs useless...organs are often given a new purpose by evolving to take on new tasks.

ie. The whale and dolphin hind leg bones evolved into support for their rear flippers.

  3. God had nothing better to do so She put them there. She knew She would be amused by humans using logic in an attempt  to understand matters of a divine nature

  4. Carly

Just for the record, there are some theistic christian evolutionists, who I accept as christian brothers and sisters.

I dont agree with them, but I never said they were not christians.

We are a big family and face it, sometimes brothers and sisters squabble, what makes you a christian is this:

That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. 11As the Scripture says, "Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame."[e] 12For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile—the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, 13for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.

Not whether you believe God used or didnt use evolution as a mechanism, I disagree he did, but if you disagree with me it only makes you wrong in my eyes, not always a non-christian. What makes you a non-christian is not believing in a literal Jesus who lived, died, and rose from the dead because he loves you Carly

  5. Darwin was just as dumb as Joseph Smith and everything in our anatomy has a purpose

  6. I find it odd that you would take the few body functions that we don't understand and use them as evidence for evolution, instead of taking what we DO know and seeing how ONLY a God could create such wonders.

Look at the eye.  It is incredibly intricate in structure and form.  Look at the way we have emotions feelings, innate morals (in EVERY society).  Look at the way a man and woman create life (husband and wife that is).  There are so many intricate things that happen in the body physically and emotionally to make this possible.  If you think it's all an accident, you've completely missed the miracles that only God can create.  We have a wonderful loving creator.  I pray that you would not miss out on His creation and gift to us, His son Jesus.

  7. goddidit....sorry, just thought I'd answer for them.

  8. none of those functions are useless. i never said they were.

  9. Wisdom teeth: You think adam and eve had toothpaste?

Appendix: Serves a non-vital function in the immune system

I may explain the others later if I remember and get the chance

  10. First of all, all of your so called explanations for useless body parts are all theories! If you google each one of these "useless" body parts, you'll find hundreds of odd ball explanations for each one! So yeah, nice try!

  11. God's way of messing with you perhaps...Hard to feel superior and intellectual when you don't have all the answers..

  12. And why can't they come from evolution?

  13. I'll address a few of those:

Adenoids and tonsils:  Doctors rarely remove them anymore because they have been found to have a purpose, as they trap bacteria, they stop many infections from entering further into the body.  People who have them removed may avoid tonsillitis, but often end up with more serious illnesses.  Also, I know more people who still have their tonsils and adenoids then who don't, so I think you exaggerate that its an accomplishment to keep them.

Arrector pili and body hair: the tightening of the skin, presence of goosebumps, and raising of the body hair results in a slight warming of the skin, which can help delay frostbite and warm our bodies when we are cold.  Hardly useless.

Wisdom teeth: Perhaps useless to those living in the rich western world, but not so useless to those who live where dental care is not obtainable.  Aside from that, most evolutionists don't claim this as an extra tooth in case we loose ours, rather they claim it as a leftover from a time when we (supposedly) had longer jaws.  The claim of it as an extra tooth makes more sense if we were designed by a God who cared enough to give us an extra pair.

Appendix, coccyx, and Plica semilunaris, just because we don't understand the purpose, doesn't mean there isn't one, and just because we can live without a part doesn't mean it does nothing, I don't have a gall bladder, but doctors do know that it aids digestion to have one.  One day they may find out the appendix does some small thing, something not essential to survival, but still helpful.  The spleen was once thought useless, but now we know that it does help with certain functions such as making of blood cells.  God designed us with some redundancy, our bone marrow does much of what the spleen does, this is for our benefit, if the spleen is damaged we can survive.
