Question:

Christians: God's plan?

Hi all, I'm just wondering something about "God's" plan. When people say that he is all-knowing, and all-powerful, that means that he knows everything, including the future, right? I also hear, commonly, that he decides the fate of us all. He decides the time of our death, because he apparently knew us before we were born. Does that mean that he chooses some fetuses to be aborted? Does that mean that he chooses which people will die by murder? For example, someone gets killed by a person. Don't you think that the victim's relatives would say something like, "Oh, that was just part of God's plan."

Considering that, does it basically mean that we should reward those who kill and those who abort? Aren't they fulfilling "God's" plan?

  1. God does have a plan for us, but he gave us the gift of free will so that we could make decisions on whether or not we should follow it. Heck, if everybody followed God's plan, there would be no war, no violence, no crime, etc.

  2. Aren't most christians usually against abortions? When I was a christian to me God's Plan meant that whatever happened to you was for your own good, made you a stronger, better and wiser person. My hubby's a muslim and to him it means that God is testing us, and that this makes us stronger etc etc.

So about the killing, killing is wrong obviously :), but if you assume that after death we leave or body and it's limitations and needs behind and continue to exist in a different way, then it doesn't matter. Cause you'd live on in a new realm. You go to the next stage. It's like an egg hatching...

Then yeah it wouldn't matter if someone got killed, but the killer would have to realize that they robbed someone of something all too valuable: life on earth... This last bit is my reason for thinking that if there is transcendence after death there might actually be something like h**l, but different than what the religions say. I know this has nothing to do with your question, but if you take into the account the possibility of "life after death" you have to wonder what it would be like...

  3. and it would also beg the question whether we have free will or not, but i don't see how anyone that believes in an all knowing god could believe in free will, they just contradict eachother.

  4. Ahh. Someone bought this up in a World Religions class of mine. And that, I have no answer to.

  5. No, if someone wants nothing to do with God then I don't believe God takes responsibility for that persons fate or path.  They could die and God very well had nothing to do with it.  I think what God decides for a person is directly related to how much a person will allow God to do for them.

  6. Everyone does what they do for reasons sufficient for themselves.

Everyone is conditioned to behave as they must.

The law of cause-and-effect prevails in the physical world.

The group-mind of society makes laws to control what it has decided is good or bad for itself, regardless of any particular individual member.

  7. That is not what the Bible teaches.

Forget about opinions and begin to read God's Word, the Bible.

He really has left us a written record and it really can be understood and followed, but only if we believe Him and respond in obedience.

Begin to read the New Testament, asking God to teach you, and be willing to change your opinions for His testimony of how things really are, and the light will begin to dawn in your heart.

  8. no. part of God's plan does not include killing people and aborting babies. people by using their own free will decide to do these bad things.peoples lives are not predestined.they make their lives by all the choices they make in life.

  9. Paul essentially answers this question in Romans 3...

"...if our unrighteousness brings out God's righteousness more clearly, what shall we say? That God is unjust in bringing his wrath on us? (I am using a human argument.) 6Certainly not! If that were so, how could God judge the world? 7Someone might argue, "If my falsehood enhances God's truthfulness and so increases his glory, why am I still condemned as a sinner?" 8Why not say—as we are being slanderously reported as saying and as some claim that we say—"Let us do evil that good may result"? Their condemnation is deserved."

This is not meant to be so harsh, but just saying that never is evil justified...even if God know's the decisions you will make, both right and wrong, before you even make them. (But it is still YOU making them, and we are always blessed to do good instead of evil).

  10. YES AND NO, YES HE IS ALL KNOWING BUT WE HAVE FREE WILL. WE HAVE FREE WILL TO HAVE AN ABORTION AND COMMIT MURDER. THAT'S WHY BOTH ARE SUCH A HORRIFIC SIN BECAUSE EVERYONES NAME IS WRITTEN IN THE TREE OF LIFE AND WHEN WE DO THESE THINGS WE MESS IT UP.... NOT SAYING THAT EVERYONE WHO DOES THESE GOES TO h**l I'M NOT A JUDGE IN THAT BUT I KNOW ITS VERY DISTASTEFUL TO GOD... HOPE THIS HELPS

  11. Gods plan is salvation thru jesus christ as our lord and savior thru faith

in him.. we live in a fallen world brought on by sin, the things you speak

about are the cause of that sin, until we see the total revelation of Gods

plan we can never really know what his plan is for us as human beings

until that day "Accept Jesus and live"

    Peace and blessings

  12. No.

God has a plan, yes. But it was all shot to h**l (no pun intended) from the beginning when Adam and Eve defied his authority.

There is a perfect plan, but what we have now is far from it. However, just because things are off target from what he intended doesn't mean that he threw his hands up in the air and quit trying. He can use anything- good, evil, whatever- to work in his direction. Sure, God has a plan, but he also has a Plan B, Plan C, etc. that will result in good if he wills them to.

And yes, we have free will. However, it can be overridden by God's plan at any second. For instance, your free will can decide to go to work, the grocery store, and the park tomorrow, but he could cause a meteor to fall through the roof this second and all your plans would be void, hence the all-powerful idea. Got me?

  13. knowing the future isn't the same as deciding the future

  14. I believe that God does have certain things in store for everyone, both challenges and blessings, however free-will is a unique gift given to only human beings and is the only thing causing someone to get murdered or raped etc.  The faults on mankind should not be blamed on god, for if you commit sin you are not with god.

  15. no one knows what Gods plan is..

He does everything  for our best interest, whether or not we understand the interest.

we can understand when we love God with all our heart, body, soul and spirit.

    .........

edit; who are you/we to blame when we ourselves are not blameless. all that happens had/has/will happen.

  16. all go there own way. God just knows when they will die and he can stop it because he is God. So he says when then will die. Everything is really chance unless God intervenes because everyone goes there own way. Simple really.

  17. Yes he knows the future and yes he decides everything for everyone. And no we do not reward those who murder and abort. We are given choices and I believe it is in our plan to make those choices but the "plan" for making those choices is for those people to go to prison and whatever else he has in store for them not to be rewarded or else we would all think that killing and being cruel was the righteous thing to do. But I am not god that is just what I believe I guess we will all find out when its over. My husband has a slightly diff. opinion he says that we all treat god like a spare tire in the back of our trunk we only go to him when we need him. That he made us all free agents and he gave us the chance to decide yae or nae and when you choose to do the bad ones that is not gods will or "plan" because we were all born with free will.

  18. d**n dude that was a GOOD one about the abortion stuff!!

You're right. Not to mention that (supposing god exists) just the the fact that abortion was invented would have had to be god's plan too.

  19. I AM GOD'S PLAN.

    i am the american dream.

  20. we shouldn't reward them for doing evil... God just has made a plan to use that evil to eventually cause good...

  21. i believe god gives us chances to live lives so that we can learn lessons and have tests to see how strong our faith is. if a person gets pregnant and decides, 'ill jus kill the baby and forget about it" they've failed a test and will not be accepted into heaven. he gives people chances to make the right decisions.

and yes, every single miniscule thing happens for a reason. it's all planned

  22. It's called Free Will. God gave it to us and we abuse it. He has plans for us but sometimes we choose otherwise.
