11Jesus answered, Thou couldest have no power at all against me, except it were given thee from above: therefore he that delivered me unto thee hath the greater sin.

Jesus says this before he is beaten and crucified to Potius Pilate in John 19. Does he mean that Pilate is commiting no sin because God gave him power over Jesus on earth? However in heaven he has no power? Need some people who know their bible to help me on this one...

  1. Whether Pilate committed sin or not is not for us to judge but God gave Pilate the power to crucified His Son and Jesus knew that God had to sacrifice Him to save the world.

  2. John19:11....Jesus answered, "You would have no power over me if it were not given to you from above. Therefore the one who handed me over to you is guilty of a greater sin." NIV

19:11 Thou couldest have no power at all against me, etc. Jesus breaks the silence and at once assumes the position of Pilate's judge. He declares that Pilate could have no power over himself unless it were given him. Christ submitted because it was the Father's will that he should drink the cup. Poor, helpless Pilate was not so great a sinner as the Jews, who might have known better, who were filled with devilish hate, who were now forcing Pilate to the crime. The words of Christ are really words of compassion

  3. 10 "Do you refuse to speak to me?" Pilate said. "Don't you understand? I have the power to set you free or to nail you to a cross."

11 Jesus answered, "You were given power from heaven. If you weren't, you would have no power over me. So the one who handed me over to you is guilty of a greater sin."

12 From then on, Pilate tried to set Jesus free.

Pilate was put in the office from God.

    Pilate wanted to release Jesus

But the religious hierarchy and the crowd voted to

crucify Jesus. So Pilate gave the OK but he washed his hands of the matter

Saying the blood of this man is not on me but I had to do this because the crowd wanted it this way

So Jesus said the religious hierarchy is guilty of a greater sin

Raz and whats it mean  are  right
