Psalm 145:9 "The Lord is good to all."

vs.

Jeremiah 18:11 "Thus saith the Lord; Behold, I frame evil against you, and devise a device against you."

So, if the lord is good to all, framing evil against someone is being good to them, right?

  1. your wrong

  2. "If He is all-powerful, there can be nothing either existing or acting in the Universe against or without his Consent; and what He consents to must be good, because He is good; therefore Evil doth not exist."

  3. I am doing God's work.

  4. Jeremiah 18:11 "Now therefore say to the people of Judah and those living in Jerusalem, 'This is what the LORD says: Look! I am preparing a disaster for you and devising a plan against you. So turn from your evil ways, each one of you, and reform your ways and your actions.' Jeremiah 18:12 But they will reply, 'It's no use. We will continue with our own plans; each of us will follow the stubbornness of his evil heart.' "

To have this passage in context it is perfectly clear... God said NO.. and when he said no during those days, there was a high price to pay.. I don't know about you, but I am glad that Jesus came to pay for my sins so that I might not see this kind of death...

The entire book of jeremiah talks about how people are going against God and doing what they want no matter what is being taught.

As far as the innocent babies... How many opportunities did the people of Noah's day have to turn from their ways? and at what point is it ok to say... you are destroying my world and I am tired of watching you hurt yourselves and one another? he is the creator, he can do whatever he wants... again.. the Old Testament is not the law we are currently under... the next phase has happened... Jesus came to die in our place...

  5. Evil is not an entity or a force...

it is used in two senses

    Evil = harm

Evil = morally wrong in quality

which one does this text seem to imply?

EDIT - I would make of the Isaiah passage the same thing.  God brings evil in the sense of calamity or harm.

In this passage "evil" is contrasted with "peace".  What info does that give us about the definition of evil.

Do you really think Isaiah meant that God created evil in some other sense? Like what, that God made an evil energy force that floats around and messes things up? or that God made moral evil, that He causes people to sin?  The simplest explanation is that it means harm.

when someone says "evil has come upon me" they aren't talking about the dark side of the force but harm.

  6. Scripture pulled out of context isn't very effective.  If you read the rest of the Jeremiah 18:11:

11 "Now therefore say to the people of Judah and those living in Jerusalem, 'This is what the LORD says: Look! I am preparing a disaster for you and devising a plan against you. So turn from your evil ways, each one of you, and reform your ways and your actions.'

Seems like maybe God is warning His people to repent and turn before they come to harm.

Because there is a verse that "Jesus wept" and later that "Jesus laughed", I guess that's a contradiction?  Try reading the whole of the bible and understanding it instead of pulling certain verses out of context.

  7. That's a new one for me. Interesting.

  8. It is rare, even on YA, that I see 'questions' that are as poorly thought out as this one.  Why are you obscessed with Christian theology?  Give it up.

  9. There's a lot of bad things in the Bible.

The Christian god is a jerk.

  10. I don't think I quite agree with your detective work there.
