Question:

Christians: If you were given a chance to preach...?

This atheist is curious!

If you were told that you could preach a sermon to a full church, what would you preach about? What church would you pick, denominationally speaking? Any Bible verses that you, personally, would like to remind people of?

(And if you already do preach, you can mention a particularly riveting or thought-provoking sermon you remember)

  1. I would remind everyone there...that the proof of God is within them...at least the knowledge of the truth lies within them, and then i would go on to discuss the proof of God....I think its the opening chapter of the book of Romans, that i like...and so I would pray that God would give me right words and then I would preach, and teach !

  2. if given the chance to preach i would like to preach to those who are seeking God instead of those that are already saved and it would not have to be in a church it could be anywhere for God is not confined to the church.

  3. I'd:

Preach the Good News to a church full of Atheists or agnostic/other.

  4. we have to camcord...im a wuss doing it live....

    REVElation and rapture..

  5. I don't attend a church where women preach.  But if I had the floor, I'd probably offer a seminar on estate planning and the Biblical support for it.

Probably why I'm an attorney and not a preacher.

  6. My sermon would be on Philippians 4:6-7. I would preach it in any church.

  7. I did for 19 years, but I had a strange approach. I would spend the week reading the Bible and on Sunday morning I'd step into yhe pulpit and stand my Bible on it's back and let it fall open, and reach on where it opened.

I used no agenda, and in this way I wasn't doing the preaching on a set of rules by man but by chance or God.

  8. I'd preach on the unfailing love of our Creator and God.

  9. I would exhort Christians to pray more.

    Any church.

Pray without ceasing.  I can't remember where that verse is.  Basically, I would encourage them to not neglect a regular prayer time every day.

  10. I would preach on Jeremiah 6:16:  Stand at the crossing and consider where your lives are heading.

This verse speaks to me right now because I have not only experienced many changes recently, but because after careful examination of my life, I enacted many changes, to have the kind of life I want to have and to be who I was created to be.

I would speak about living an authentic life, and how living authentically as God made us and gifted us gives God glory.  It is the way we were intended to live. How God is reconciling all people to himself, how we are all in the process of becoming what we were made to be, and how achieving that IS the most authentic and healthiest way to live.

As St. Irenaeus of Lyons said, "The glory of God is man fully alive."

I would probably be preaching in a non-denominational or Presbyterian church.

  11. Yes, I would preach on compassion. If we don't deal w/ the unsaved on the level of compassion. We will never be given the chance to see them saved. Also, there isn't much compassion shown in the church these days, even to members. Jesus was a man of great compassion.Embracing people from all walks of life.Who are we to do otherwise? God Bless!- I'm Apostolic, btw.

  12. i do preach, but i would trade preaching in front of a full church, for preaching to somebody that has never heard the gospel of Jesus.Romans 6:23.

  13. I would probably preach on how to get free from the demonic.  I have personally experienced this and know the joy and liberty of this type of freedom.

Luke 4:17-19 (New King James Version)

17 And He was handed the book of the prophet Isaiah. And when He had opened the book, He found the place where it was written:

18 “ The Spirit of the LORD is upon Me,

           Because He has anointed Me

          To preach the gospel to the poor;

He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted

To proclaim liberty to the captives

And recovery of sight to the blind,

          To set at liberty those who are oppressed;

19 To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD

  14. To the evangelicals I would preach (and already do) that it is time to return to the Original Kingdom Gospel Jesus was preaching rather than the Pauline substitute gospel that is so popular these days. This explains the difference between these two gospels... http://gospelenigma.com

  15. The members of the congregation in the mormon church are the ones that give the "sermons" (called talks) during the sacrament meeting and so its not an unusual thing for us to do.  The Bishopric asks you to speak (usually gives you a couple weeks notice), usually a topic is given, but not always.  There is no preacher that speaks every sunday.

My favorite subject is on service to others.
