You're confusing Mary Magdalene with the prostitute. They were two different people. Mary Magdalene's problem was that she was possessed by seven demons.

  1. Other than Mary who has been idolized by the Catholics, Esther stands out a great deal.  A whole book was written about her.  The words often quoted from that book are, "Who knows that perhaps you were made queen for such a time as this?" Esther 4:14b

Another in the OT is Ruth who became the great-grandmother of Jesus, and two in the NT are Mary the sister of Martha who prepared Jesus for burial by dousing his feet with expensive ointment and kissing his feet and wiping his feet from her tears, and Mary Magdalene who was delivered from 7 demons and she was the first one to speak to Jesus after he rose from the dead.

  2. I'm a sucker for women who are strong and cunning.  My favorite biblical woman has to be Delilah.  Even the strongest man in the bible fell prey to her.  Love her or loathe her, but you can't deny the skills of the bible's "femme fatale".

  3. When i used  attend catholic school i always remember Veronica, the woman who wiped the blood off Jesus's face during the crusifixion.

  4. For me two of them come to mind. The Old Testament has Deborah. She was a prophetess and a judge. And she is the only woman who ever lead Israel. The other is Mary Magdelen. She is present at so many crucial times in the New Testament I have to believe that her true significance was covered up.     +?+

  5. Beyond the obvious of the Virgin Mary, I like Mary Magdalene, who Jesus cast 7 devils out of, and she was faithful and grateful, by following him up to his death, and faithful even after, coming to his grave.

  6. Got to be the "virgin" Mary. If it wasn't for her sleeping around behind joesphs back and getting pregnant, Christianity would never have happened! It was all a big cover up story, nowadays she'd appear on jerry springer or jeremy kyle!

  7. The Samaritan woman at the well in John 4.

  8. Lilith of course. Now she was given an interesting story. And yes I know she is not in the revamped version of the bible.

She is not in the new version of the bible. She was banned from it along with many other texts.

  9. Mary Magdelene was definately the hottest - she put out

  10. The Virgin Mary

    Ruth

    Dinah, daughter of Leah

    Judith

  11. Deborah, being a Judge and a Prophetess,  but also Rhoda because she answered the door and believed when the others doubted

  12. Eve.  Mary Magdalene did more to get Christianity rolling than any other woman but was supposedly largely edited out during the early versions of the Bible, so is therefore not prominent.

  13. I would say Eve. She was the first Woman.

  14. The Virgin Mary.

Revelations of John, New Testament :"And a great portent appeared in heaven - a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet and on her head a crown of 12 stars" (Rev. 12:1) "The seed of Eve will bruise the serpents head" (Gen. 3:15)

Already in the beginning God had elected Mary to her unique vocation in the scheme of salvation. Long ages before she was conceived in the womb of her mother, Mary was ontologically conceived and sanctified for the divine purpose, so that we could also apply to her the work of the Lord, which came to Jeremiah :"Before i formed you in the womb - i knew you - and before you were born, i consecrated you". (Jer. 1:5)

Mary was from the beginning "endowed with grace" (Kecharitomene) or in the more familar translation "full of grace". (Luke 1:28) To be filled with grace is to be in the opposite condition from that of original sin.

Through the Old Covenant the mission of many holy women prepared for that of Mary. At the very beginning there was Eve. Despite her disobedience, she receives the promise of a posterity that will be victorious over the evil one, as well as the promise that she will be the mother of all the living. By virtue of this promise, Sarah conceives a son in spite of her old age. Against all human expectation God chooses those who were considered powerless and weak to show forth his faithfulness to his promises. Hannah, the mother of Samuel; Deborah; Ruth; Judith; Esther, and many other women. Mary stands out among the poor and humble of the Lord, who confidently hope for and receive salvation from him. After a long period of waiting the times are fulfilled in her, the exalted Daughter of Zion, and the next plan of salvation is established.

  15. (from a former Christian)

    Old Testament: Hagar

    New Testament: Mary

    God bless them both.

  16. barring the obviouujs women, the woman with the issue of blood. Oh and the woman with the alabaster box.

MARK 14:3     And being in Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, as he sat at meat, there came a woman having an alabaster box of ointment of spikenard very precious; and she brake the box, and poured it on his head.

  17. Mary mother of Christ because she is mentioned so much due to her role.

  18. I have ignored answering this question in the past, as it seems to come up every now and then, but it is on account of my just sitting here scratching my head. To be honest, no woman stands out for me in the Bible.

  19. Mary, the mother of Jesus.

    My soul magnifies the Lord,

And my spirit rejoices in God MY SAVIOUR.

For He has regarded the low estate of His handmaiden,

For behold, henceforth all generations shall call me blessed.

For He who is mighty has done great things for me, and holy is His name. And His mercy is on those who fear Him from generation to generation.

He has shown strength with His arm:

He has scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts.

He has put down the mighty from their thrones,

and exalted those of low degree.

    He has filled the hungry with good things;

and the rich He has sent empty away.

    He has helped His servant Israel, in remembrance of His mercy;

As He spoke to our fathers, to Abraham and to His posterity forever.
