Christians: My 10yr old daughter has a question about the Devil?

My 10 yr old asked me " Could you sell your soul to the Devil to get into heaven for eternity? You know like the classic deal the Devil gives you what you want in return for your immortal soul.

Please be respectful she is only 10 and a good girl.

P.S She knows NEVER ever to make a deal with the devil of any kind. She is just curious.

    however, that is a moot point because there is no god, devil, heaven, h**l, etc.

  2. No, the devil has no authority in heaven. And the truth is, those who serve the devil in return for worldly gain aren't really happy. Their happiness is only a transitory pleasure, and then comes the grief.

  3. well to start off you have one extremely smart daughter!  i had to rethink the question...you should be proud! but i would have to say no,because its a sin to sell your soul to the devil no matter what and you can never trust the devil,but its good that she wants to learn about things and asks questions that would never be brought up in church

No, the devil cannot get her into heaven, not in any way.  The "devil" , Lucifer, as he was called in the Old Testament, was actually an angel.  God found pride in the heart of Lucifer.  He wanted to be worshiped the same as God, and he stirred up some of the other angels to go along with him.  That's why God cast Lucifer and the angels that followed him out of heaven.  In the New Testament, Lucifer is called Satan and his angels are called demons.

    Jesus is the only one who can get you to heaven, baby.  He said he is The Way, The Truth, and The Life.  He is the only way you can get there.  The devil only wants to destroy people and take away everything good in their life.  You make sure you stay clear of him, okay?

Please tell her that the Devil does not exist.  There is NO such creature in the original Hebrew scripture (he was ADDED in when it was mistranslated into the OT) and NOBODY else believes he exists.  "The Devil" was invented by Christians who didn't want to take responsibility for their own thoughts and actions.  Is "passing the buck" REALLY the lesson you want to teach your daughter?  At least do some basic research.

  14. Remember that Jesus said the devil is the father of lie.  He could trick you.

    "Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it." (John 8:44)

    Furthermore, if you sell your soul to the devil, your soul will belong to the devil, and the devil is not in Heaven...

    No, there is no "deal with the devil", but yes, he is real.

    What determines where we spend our eternal life is in whether we see and accept Jesus as the One who saved us.

    We are fallen and in sin from birth, there is no one that does not sin. That separated us from God, our Creator, who is Holy and can have no part of sin. But so loves us that his son Jesus came as a human, committed no sin, and could then be our death in our place, if we believe in him.

    Old story, simple, but true.

When I was a horny 13 year old boy who was beginning to doubt the idea of "God," I made a offer to the Devil, that in exchange for my soul, I'd be able to get whatever girl I wanted.  It seemed like a reasonable offer.  Needless to say it produced no results and put another nail in the coffin of my belief.


  22. It is a good question as movies and stories make it seem so.  The way one sales their soul is to desire things of the world instead of God and once we desire it so much, we never think of God again.  

    Satan is real.  Christ said so.  Logic says so as well.  If there is a God and good is His personality, then there must be a Satan and evil is his personality.  

    Here is what Paul said and it is good advice.  "Whatever is true,whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable, if anything is excellent or praiseworthy -- think on such things." Philippians 4:8  Remember, the Bible is the only place to find truth.

  25. Well I read a novel in which a man sold his soul to the devil for eternal life, but when the devil realized he'd been cheated, he cursed the man with eternal life no matter what. So his body started to rot away, and he eventually ended up as a "mummified" living head, kept in a box. So I'm sure that there would be some way the devil could turn a bargain to get into heaven against you.

  30. i don't see how this is a question. but it reminds me of a question I've always wondered, how exactly does a person go about selling their soul to the devil? as a kid i used to have a phobia that it would happen almost without my consent. but now I'm fairly certain if you just like utter the words its no good. you would have to actually like sign a contract in blood or at least red pen lol.  but seriously, you shouldn't have told her about the devil at age 10, that could cause psychological malfunction.
