  1. I stopped breathing in as I walked by... but actually I haven't seen a homeless person in 15 years.

  2. Inanimate Girl - You'd be surprised how cheaply an addict can get a fix.

And wasn't there a horrible song in the 90's about this? Gross.

  3. Although I don't believe you share my Christian faith - I see what you are trying to point out (hopefully) and agree 100%.

BTW - It's amazing how many conservatives who also claim to be Christian call the local conservative radio station where I live and constantly mock and put down the homeless. They pretend to preach 'tough love' but IMO, it's more tough pride and arrogance on their part. In other words, they really take pride calling up the radio station and boasting 'how they have worked all their lives' and then over generalize how the majority of our homeless are just plain lazy.

As Christians we should look at everyone as if he/she were Jesus. James pointed out that how can we claim to love God who we have not seen if we do not love our brother/neighbor etc. who we have seen.

Although I'm a bit more conservative than libertarian or progressive, I only wish some quote/unquote Christian conservatives that call the local conservative radio station where I live would actually read James Chapter 2 and what James says about honoring the rich and looking down on the poor or  homeless. This is something that God hates.

  4. Uhh...this does sound like a question not just for Christians..but EVERYONE..including YOU.  However, to answer your question, No, i did not...yes..i am a sinner.  I am not perfect.

  5. What if god was one of us. Just a slob like one of us. just a stranger on a bus trying to find his way home!!!

But he's not so this question is irrelevent

  6. I gave him a couple bucks. Not enough for booze, but just enough for a meal.

Edit: I thought Jesus didn't do drugs. My bad.

But not all homeless people are homeless because their addicted. I'll support those ones if it means that at least one of them was honest and bought a meal or clothes with the money I gave him.

  7. He was.  Jesus said anything you do NOT do for one of your brothers, you also do not do for me.

  8. sadly many of us so called Christian, have fail to see the homeless as the Lord Jesus taught us. Jesus was a homeless man and he went all over the place. we are called to serve all people, mean homeless, people with diesase, other problems. The less of our people we are called to service. Jesus said the last will be first and the first will be last. Jesus forgive us, for we do not know what we are doing.

  9. If Jesus were the homeless man on the street, then He would have lied that He was now in the presence of God the Father.

Jesus did say that when we see others and respond to them, our response will be as if it were to Him.

Perhaps it is this that you really mean.

I know that I call upon God when I see things and I want to hear from Him as to what He would want done.

These type of things can be accompanied by serious concerns - as in the case of the trio of men asking for handouts that shot drugs and punched, kicked and robbed a friend of mine while she was walking her dogs.

That is also something that Jesus Christ wanted me to be aware of and He made certain I was.

Point is: for a Christian to seek Christ on the matter of everything is always the right thing to do.

  10. Tsk tsk don't scare those Christians...

I can see them giving money to every homeless person from now on.

  11. I pretty much never pass homeless guys on my daily routes...

    Oops...I wasn't supposed to answer this...sorry.

  12. Why do so many of these answers assume a homeless person is a drunk or a junkie? Do you know there is a foreclosure crisis in this country? Do you know people are getting laid off? Do you know people have lost their homes to so many natural disasters happening?

  13. What makes you think I did not buy him some food to eat or give him a little money.  Maybe I told him where to go and stay for the night.  I make eye contact with anyone and everyone.

  14. I suppose this is the very reason I am so hard on christians....I seen my dad, a wonderful christian, do exactly that with everyone whose path he crossed...because he genuinely believed the verse about.... whatever you do to one of these you did it to me (jesus)

when I see people claim christianity and then use some small amount of help as an excuse to push thier agenda....it bothers me.

  15. I gave him the apple out of my lunch - don't want him hungry but didn't want to give him money for drugs or booze either.

  16. Then when I offered him a few dollars He told me "GOD BLESS YOU"

  17. Then he maybe bought a burger with the money I gave him. If not, then I hope he got something to make him happy.

  18. Hello,

A sobering thought. So shall we be grilled on this when we meet him for judgement as that passage warns... hope I am on his right!

    Cheers,

    Michael Kelly

  19. Then Jesus is a Junkie, who knew?

    *edit*

Inanimate girl is correct, and not all homeless people are junkies. I prefer donating to shelters and food banks rather than direct handouts.

  20. Jesus WAS that homeless guy.

I called the police to report loitering.  Now you can visit him in prison like it says in Matthew 25..

There are far too many Jesuses on the street these days.

  21. "whatever you did for the least one of these you did for me"

But Jesus is really not homeless.  He lives in the temple of man.
