Question:

Christians: What would you think if Jesus lived today?

I'm not talking about the Second Coming, I mean if Jesus had not come in the first century. If Jesus were born in the late 20th century, in America and just was starting his public life? And I especially mean more conservative, fundamentalist types? Would you accept a "hippie" type preacher, would you accept his going against the status quo? Would you think he was just another 'Kooky' preacher running around, a cult leader or something? Would you realize he was the Messiah?

Personally, I have wondered about this and don't know if I would have. What is your opinion?. Of course if he had not come, there would be no Christians, I guess people would be Jewish or pagans.

  1. If jesus would have come at this time...people will fail to recoganise him we are no way following anything from any of the holy scriptures. You can see christian in america who just take what is easy from bible and leave rest

  2. I think he would be in the nut house.

But then again look at Bin Ladin, he has people that will do whatever he wants.

That's a whole different kind of crazy.

    So, who knows?

  3. Jesus was rejected by the religions of the day, as were the apostles and prophets of the time.

I think that if he were to have lived His life today, many wouldn't have recognized Him for what He really was.

I'm LDS and feel like the same parallel runs for the prophets of today, namely Joseph Smith.  He, like Paul of the New Testament, was reviled and persecuted for saying that he had seen a vision.  Yet both knew that all the persecution under heaven could not alter the fact that it had actually happened.

    Interesting to think about huh.

  4. Exactly - there would be no Christians.  Of course, since Jesus changed history, the world of the 21st century without him would be nothing like our world, so it's not easy to answer this question.

Just consider: without the Catholic church, founded by Jesus, there would be no Pilgrim fathers setting off to found a better nation under God, so no America as we know it.  A better world, or a worse one?  You decide!

  5. He would be an Orthodox Jew running around in Israel.  Probably calling for the removal of Palestinians from Jerusalem and the absorption of ancient territory that once belonged to Israel.

At least we would have better factual coverage then in those days.

  6. I think he would be ashamed of what people do in his name.

  7. I think the whole thing would collapse of the illogic apparent in Jesus' mortuary evaluation and Mary's Ob-Gyn exam.
