Question:

Christians: Would you ever lie to somebody to save them?

Imagine are in a situation where you were sitting next to somebody on their deathbed, and they asked you a question.

If you tell the truth, this person will be angry at God and deny his existence, probably until his short time is up. And then be damned to h**l.

But, if you lie, this person will accept Jesus Christ as their lord and savior, and to to heaven.

What would you do? Although lying is wrong, is following that principle worth it in this case? Will you be happy with upholding your principles of being honest if you know that cost this person his salvation?

  1. lying only makes the situation worse. nothing good comes from a lie.

I'm not going to lie to bring anyone to Christ.

  2. It depends on what the problem is. If it's something big, I would tell the truth.

  3. I do not think the question is fair

if a person will hate God for being who He really is, my lie to them about God will not introduce them to the real God.

They will still be harboring hate toward the real God while enjoying love for one that is not.

  4. I'm no one that can save anyone. If that is even a possibility or reality...that would have to be within themselves.

  5. Lying wouldn't be saving them, telling the truth would be hurtful but I'm sure God wouldn't hold that against them, I'm pretty positive God would let them go to Heaven.

  6. epic

  7. Well, considering I'm not a full believer in the whole "those who don't accept J.C. as their lord and savior are damned to h**l" thing, it's not a good example for me.  But then again, I lie occasionally too, so sure.  You probably meant the fundies, huh?

  8. i wouldnt lie to somebody when im trying to save them.

    assuring them is possible.

  9. absolutely not.

God hates lies and so do I.

if they don't want the truth then there is nothing I can do about it.

I will try to the best of my ability to bring them to Christ with the truth but it is always up to the person to make up his or her own mind.

  10. I would lie if it would save their life and certainly if it would save their soul.  That's what Rahab did in the Bible, to save the Israeli spies (lied to save their lives, not their souls, in that situation).

It won't cost anyone their salvation.  Lying is forgiven by believing the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  We are forgiven ALL SINS past, present, and future by believing the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  The Lord already knew that you were going to commit that sin, and all saved believers are still sinners.  ALL.

The Gospel of Jesus Christ is this: The truth is that the only way to be saved and to get into heaven and avoid being sent to eternal h**l is by believing in faith alone that Jesus, who is God, died for our sins on the cross and rose from the dead (1 Corinthians 15:1-4). Believe this and you are saved!

Please pray now: "Jesus, please forgive me of my sins. I believe that You died on the cross for my sins and You rose from the dead. Thank You for eternal life!" You will be in heaven with Him forever when you die. :)

  11. In this case, yes, because Christ wants nobody to perish in h**l.

  12. No, the end does not justify the means.

By the way, we don't accept Jesus, He accepts us when we repent and trust Him as Lord and Savior.

The person would not go to h**l because he doesn't agree with a particular doctrinal issue, he would be going to h**l because he died in his sins.  If he is truly concerned about his state, what issue would be more important that his eternity?

  13. Jesus is the Savior, not Christians and God does not lie. You asked what can possibly be worse than going to h**l? Answer; going to h**l, but believing that you were going to heaven; Why? because you believed lies but, you believed the lies were the truth. I cannot imagine anything worse than that.

  14. Only the truth will set you free. (John 8:32)

No, I would tell him/her the truth. Telling them a lie will not save them.

  15. If whatever is being told to them makes them blame God for it, when God is not to blame for "anything", then this person is not going to accept Christ as their Savior anyway if you quote-n-quote lied to them.  You’re putting the cart before the horse.

A repentant soul has to come before forgiveness and then Salvation.......

  16. First how would someone dieing about something like if they like the person change there faith in god. Then if heaven is real then how would you explain it to them that you don't like them in heaven, and that you just lied on there deathbed.

  17. I would pray for guidance first from God then I know God would direct me what to do.
