Why answer questions designed to antagonise Christians , like how tall was Jesus , can God make a rock so big he can't lift or trap questions like do Christians hate homosexuals ?

The way i see it this site gives us the opportunity to encourage & uplift each other , engage in healthy debate about the bible & important issues . Sometimes i see Christians make unpleasant comments to other Christians or Christians run down other faiths both Christian & Non Christian.

Some say this site is fun but what is more important , fun or the words of Jesus ?

Yes i guess this is a rant but would it not be more Christian to take this site as a serious way to preach ,teach & encourage one another ?

  1. How tall was Jesus?

  2. If you're NOT enjoying Jesus, you're NOT glorifying God...which is the purpose of life:

Rev 4:11  Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.

I agree with your points about petty questions designed to antagonize...I'm sometimes on here for over an hour before I see a question WORTH answering...

I got on this site to preach and teach because I saw a lot of untruth being propagated,  God has blessed me with getting aquainted with mature believers and I have been encouraged as a result....

I have mixed feelings when the word "fun" is being used as a comparison? to the words of Jesus? Jesus told us to take up our cross and follow Him, but he also told us that his yoke is easy and his burden light, and he wants us to know the JOY of the Lord...What's the difference between joy and fun?

Jesus has ETERNAL JOY AND PLEASURES awaiting us:

Mat 25:23  His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

Psa 16:11  Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.

If we have HIS promises of the "joy of the Lord" and "pleasures forevermore"...that's something to look forward to when my car won't start or the doctor tells my sister she has cancer in her brain and not long to live.

CHRIST is our Hope and  our Joy; perhaps we become more aware of this when we're NOT having fun. This is on my parents tombstone:

Heb 11:40  God having provided some better thing for us, that they without us should not be made perfect.

  3. This site really isn't for ranting or preaching, its about asking questions and answering them....

If I see a fellow Christian ask a hateful question, or one that is designed to antagonize Atheists, I will tell them what's on my mind, that their question its in the spirit of Christianity.

As for the questions designed to antagonize me, I try to give as positive of an answer as I can. Some of the questions are really funny, so I give a silly answer. I think God has a sense of humor.

I really don't think preaching via YA would be very affective. Plenty of people use the gospel in their answers. Preach to people who can actually look into your eyes, hear your voice, see the love of the holy spirit in you.

  4. There are moments when I've learned a great deal by answering hypothetical questions from non-Christians. Some of those questions have made me think a great deal about my faith. True, the ridiculous "Can God make a _______ so ____ He can't _____ it?" questions are trite and wearisome, but I don't mind answering hypothetical questions, or ones that seem, at least on the surface, to be antagonistic. I'm not afraid of debate or dissenting opinions. I might be wasting a golden opportunity by *not* answering certain questions. I've made quite a few non-Christian friends on this site, and enjoy open discussion. Some of the questions I've learned the most from have been from non-Christians challenging my faith.

  5. Kindly quote the appropriate passage from the rules that state this site is about debating (healthy or otherwise), uplifting, or encouraging.

I thought for sure this was Yahoo Answers, not Yahoo Debate, Yahoo Discussion, Yahoo Rant, Yahoo Preaching, or Yahoo Golden Opportunity.

I expect the non-Christians to be in violation.  They are of the world, after all.  A Christian ought to know better, and be held to a higher standard.

Not quite ready for the jump?  Try taking it in faith.

    Please.

  6. Not really. This site is for religious discussion of all kinds, not bible - thumping.

  7. Thats  what  i  try  to do,,tell  them  about  what  Jesus  did for

them  and how he died for them,  some  bash  me but  many  are

nice,,but  as long  as i  can  I will  tell  the world  about

God  and  our  Savior,  if  I  can help  but  one, that  will be

      good,

  8. no...

im stating facts but not everyone agrees..

  9. Ideally, the site would be a meeting place for people of all faiths to discuss their beliefs in respect and tolerance. Many do ask and answer in that spirit, and I admire the ones who behave nicely toward each others' serious questions. The unpleasantness comes in when someone decides to be obnoxious, or perceives that someone else is behaving obnoxiously. Then it becomes too easy for hurt feelings, or for someone to decide that someone else's beliefs are wrong.

I would ask you to consider that all of us who have religious or spiritual beliefs, or no beliefs, hold them as a matter of faith. Nothing can be conclusively proven one way or the other. So it isn't a bad thing to speak of your own faith; but it becomes disrespectful if you consider that someone else's faith is wrong. All of us who hold such beliefs pray to the same thing--the vast unknowable Thing that created the All, or that is the All. Is it difficult to conceive of a God who can be all things and all possibilities, and be known by many names and concepts simultaneously?

  10. Yes. We do get caught up in these wordly things.

  11. I agree.

  12. The only wasted time I have spent today is reading and responding to your question.

  13. Good point. I grow weary of the trolls here, but I am used to going against the tide.

  14. You are among the ones I count as seeing the opportunity, as you have mentioned. There are those that come here with great intelligence, whose feet I would love to sit at to hear their words. These also possess great faith.

As you have noted, some come to belittle, but there are others that come with sincere questions inquiring about the hurts of life. Those are not so easy to distinguish some times, but we do aid when possible.

You need to realize though, that this is not only for Christians. There are many different faiths represented, and while we cannot agree with them, the proper respect should be shown...we must love even when we are not loved.

Yet somehow, I suspect that you already knew all this.

Fun? Yes, at times. But I always take seriously (as many do) all that God is, and has done.

Your postings cause me to look into the scriptures. They make me take a second and even third look. Thorough. It IS a welcome addition to the ordinary banter one finds on R&S. I for one would enjoy being in a Bible Study with you, as I believe you are the type to leave no stone unturned.

  15. Yes.

  16. For one this is not a Christian web-site, there are a tonne of forums that are all Christian. But yes, I would have to say that I get tired of all the blind hatred as well.

  17. One of your answers said this is not a Christian site & i agree but it is open to Christians & all others & you are right why don't the Christians on this site use it to do all you have said.

You asked  questions about Matthew 5:14-16 they talk about being a light , this is Christians chance to shine.

    Good question.

  18. You're right!

  19. Can God write a question so rhetorical that even he can't answer it?
