  1. Yeah, I'm Christian too, and I celebrate my cultural festivals; nothing in the bible says we can't. I mean your culture and and religion are separate or at least should be. Religion is what you believe in; your faith. Your culture is like giving an activity significance; it's what your people do to celebrate something I guess.

  2. It depends.

Here in Phillipines ,most of the people are christians yet they are celbrating cultural festivals.

I think it doesn't have any connection on the religion. It's about culture.

  3. errr... chinese new year dont have anything to do with ...um... religion..

its about the differences of chinese people count their date.. and their date  system not the same with others....

umm.. ur neighbour misinterpret religion n culture.....

and um... i kinda surprise got people like that one....

  4. So they don't give or take ang pows?

First time I heard Chinese don't give/take angpow

Christian and yes I do - I eat heh

  5. as long as the festival doesn't involve some pagan worshiping culture

  6. I'm a christian, I celebrate CNY & Chap Goh Mei-give&receive angpau/manderin,

May festival-eat bachang, Mid-Autumn Festival-eat moon cakes, Winter Festival is important(big) like new year to the chinese-eat tong yuen, Good Friday & Resurrection day -fasting&praying,

    Passover, Pentecost, Rosh Hashanah(Shana Tovah!),

    Hanukka-light manorah candles, Christmas - :D :D :D!  .

I am very typical Chinese Malaysian n I did all the celebrations in christian way.  Got one time we celebrate raya ahaha, we bought some biscut and jelly(DIY) ... hv fun mah, enjoy life  :D ha :D ha:D ha :D ha

    Loving it.

  7. No. I only celebrate the seven God's holy days. Cultural festival like Easter, Halloween, Christmas and New Year are all pagan based belief.

  8. they celebrate Chinese New Year and moon cake festivals if Chinese Christian

  9. Some cultural festivals we do celebrate in our church as well. Like Chinese New Year, Moon cake festival, Summer solstick and winter solstick. As long as we do not do anything that pressing other then our GOD, it is acceptable for us.

  10. Well, i don't really celebrate Chinese New Year that much, but I still get money! I'm Christian, and I think that it's all right to celebrate Chinese New Year or any other holidays. Even I celebrate Halloween, and it's suppose to be some kind of night related to ghosts and stuff.

  11. As a Christian, I still enjoy the celebration of many cultural events. While some events do have secular, possibly even Pagan roots, so too do many of the celebrations we consider to be "Christian" to this day. For example, there is widespread debate over the histroical and literal accuracy of Christ's date of birth. Christmas traditions have ties to several Winter festivals and feasts practiced by Christians and non-Christians alike. The point is that the mere enjoyment of a day as an opportunity to relax, celebrate, gather with family and friends, and reflect on the traditions you hold dear should be encouraged. Groundhog Day isn't meant to worship groundhogs and Halloween isn't intended to worship ghosts and black cats. Let your state of mind and your perception of the holiday dictate whether or not celebrating the holiday is right for you.
