If the answer is yes why aren't you in prison?

If the answer is no, could you please explain why anyone else should follow your example to pick and choose the bits you like and discard the bits you don't like? Why should anyone therefore believe any of it?

Please no 'you'll get yours from god' answers. They don't really answer anything.

  1. A lot of Christians will say that Jesus came to fulfill the new laws....but then Jesus also stated he came to change nothing.  So which one is it?  Sounds like another bible contradiction.

  2. First of all we need to know which bible, for example the Bible that was freely available to anyone to copy, quote from or publish was the King James Version.

Then along came publishers who changed the text so they then owned the copyright., virtually rewriting it and in doing so altered meanings and are causing confusion.

Try reproducing part in print from a "modern" bible without giving credit to the copyright owner and see what happens.

I wouldn't follow one of those counterfeit bibles, they don't make sense.

  3. I personally don't follow the Bible literally, word-for-word. The Bible was written by men (apparently with a holy influence from God) over a large period of time (including equally long gaps inbtw), so there are discrepancies. I do find that most of it's teachings are good advice for everyday life (like don't cheat, be greedy, but be kind and good-hearted).

I understand your feelings on those who focus on passages they like but ignore those that are "inconvenient". Just keep in mind that some people have a rudimentary/simplistic view of God and try to over-simplify the concept. Which is a contradiction in itself because God is anything but simple.

    I hope I enlightened you today. :)

  4. The thing is, the Bible tells us what we should do, and plenty of things not to do.

The difference is, we must be smart enough to understand.

Something that most mockers don't do.

  5. ha haa no,I'mm a christian and i don't really follow the bible literally. defiantlyly dont follow anything in the new testament, its kind of crazy. I think there are alot of hypocriticalal christians out there who condemn others and i really hate that. But anyways back to the point all those weird sacrifice rules and killing rules are Religion. Now theres a huge diffrent from religion and from being a christian. First of all the first thing Jesus did was try to get rid of religion and ceremonies and all that, because it was all a big scam so the religious leaders could get money. I think that being a christian is just trying to immitate jesus without all the powers and what not. God know that we are going to mess up but thats why jesus died on the cross, so we could be forgiven. I really hate how some christians are focused on the "relgious" rules and i hate how they always condemn. Jesus was a sweet guy he liked partying hard and having fun, he was acctualy a really sarcastic and funny guy if you look at the bible with a more open minded view. I wouldnt be a christian otherwise if i found out being a chrstian was all rules.

  6. Well, I'll be honest, I do my best to follow the teachings of Jesus literally. I try to apply them to my every day life.

As for the Old Testament, Jesus came to fulfill the law of the Old Testament and create a new covenant, which I willingly follow.

And guess what, we are all free to believe and do (within the law of course) what we want, Christian, atheist, Muslim, Jew, Hindu, it doesn't matter.

  7. There's 66 books.

There's a rule that you have to distinguish "Who it was written to" "Why it was written" "When it was written"

This is why unbelievers don't understand the Bible, because they think the Bible is a systematic book of a collection.  It's not.  It tried to be as much as possible when put together, but there's no way a collection of ancient texts can be systematic the way most books are.
