Question:

Christians: what challenges do you come across when you share the gospel?

One thing that I find very challenging at times is when I come across the agnostic and/or skeptic. A lot of times when I speak with them, they have that "gotta see it to believe it" mentality or they want empirical evidence.

What are things you face as you share the gospel of Jesus Christ? (Also, how could I address those who want empirical evidence or have that "see it to believe it" attitude?)

I look forward to your answers. :)

  1. Absolutely none because I wait for the Lord to guide me and teach me and help me within the lives of those who don't believe by example and I wait on Him to give me the cue and you know what?!, it has always come, EVERY SINGLE TIME! I don't push myself on anyone especially an agnostic or skeptic really you should follow Christ's example in loving, caring and letting Him guide and lead and He will bring them. Before you go into the we are told to go and tell the nations -- research and you will find that is for profits, apostles, preachers those chosen especially and exclusively by Him.

  2. In my experience, unbelievers or skeptics are polite, but dismiss the opportunity to discuss faith-based issues.  Even in situations where free DVD's are offered, they'd rather not even know the topic.  They seem to act as though I'm an Amway sails-person or something! LOL

(I'm not discouraged, however.  Thing is, once we as believers have planted the seed, it's up to the individual as to what they do with it.)

Thanks for the thoughtful question! :D

  3. I am too broken to teach the gospel for now. So I do not preach unless it is YA.

  4. One experience with a skeptic comes to my mind.  One day as I was cleaning the ER lobby I picked up a Guide Post magazine and walked over to the security desk and asked the guard if he believed in God.  His reply was that he need convincing.  Not wanting to start I just said these magazines have a wonderful section called "What Prayer Can Do" and I love reading them.  A month later in conversation with that same security gaurd he told me a story about coming home.  His original plans were to stay overnight at a campsight in the mid west, but during the night he decided to leave to go home.  The next morning the very campsight were he left was on the news it had been hit by a tornado!  In fact he said he saw the very sight that was right next to where he was staying get hit on the news.  I told him that story proves that God looks after people.  He seemed to agree.

For me what is hard sharing is that when I run into those that want to argue every thing I believe.  They want me to listen to them but they don't want to hear out what I have to say.

  5. I stopped preaching Paul's gospel of blood for sin long ago. The people who were resisting that gospel were right. Jesus did not preach Paul's gospel. He preached the Kingdom Gospel.

This will explain the difference between those two gospels. http://gospelenigma.com

  6. 1 Timothy 2:7 Where unto I am ordained a preacher, and an apostle, (I speak the truth in Christ, and lie not;) a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and verity

Romans 1:9 For God is my witness, whom I serve with my spirit in the gospel of his Son, that without ceasing I make mention of you always in my prayers

Romans 9:1 I say the truth in Christ, I lie not, my conscience also bearing me witness in the Holy Ghost,

2 Corinthians 11:31 The God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which is blessed for ever more, knoweth that I lie not.

Galatians 1:20 Now the things which I write unto you, behold, before God, I lie not.

Learn of these, and write them in their hearts: and put them into their mind.

  7. It is not appropriate for you to be trying to "share" your religion with people whom you already know don't wish to hear about it.

There is no lack of places and ways to get religious information, should one desire to do so. It is not necessary to "witness," so please just leave people to their beliefs. It is abomination to try to mess with people's souls.

  8. All we can do is sow the seeds. For those that need proof, tell them only God can prove himself to them. They must ask humbly. Our best testimony to the evidence of God and the truth of his word is how we live our lives and treat others.

  9. Oh, no!  d**n those agnostic and/or skeptic with their "gotta see it to believe it mentality" - Don't you just hate that about those people?  Why couldn't god just make them more gullible, like the Christians?  I don't know about you, I just hit them over the forehead with my Bable.  There's nothing like a good concossion to make a believer out of a heathen

  10. Many times getting people to take an interest.

  11. Give them a lobotomy.

Thay will cure them of their desire to see rational proof.

  12. Well. I never teach the gospel to anyone who obviously doesn't want it. But Teaching the gospel to those who are "See it to believe it" I do/say the following:

"Well, You can't see God. He's trying to test us. He wants to make sure you are faithful. If you need to see god, Then ask upon Jesus, He wants to direct you to the right path. God doesn't need to spend time showing himself to non-believers."

  13. my message to this pain in the *** women at church was if i wasn't a christian i would kill u lol

  14. ppl have allot of despair in their life and the only evidence you have to share is your testimony, your own life and the Word of GOD.......the Word will fight it's own battles, the Truth will be spread through out the world

  16. Getting someone to listen to me Haha. Usually the best opportunities is when you develop a good relationship with em. In my everyday language I try to have sort of chill language, but also maybe use like the word blessed a lot. Or rather I never confront any nonbelievers specifically about Jesus, but it could come up if you mention you have to do something at church heh.

  17. I used to be a hateful Christian hater. I thought they were they worst hypocrites.  It wasn't until I died and slipped over into the limbo of nothingness being suffocated by the presence of Jesus and Satan, that I finally got it.

But by the grace and mercy of Jesus did I make it back. After I was released from the hospital and was well enough to kind of walk, I got Baptized.

The journey of my life and my relatively new journey with Christ has given me such unique experiences.  I tap into those experiences in a way that allows me to really understand the person I am talking to about whatever subject. It is rarely about the Gospel.

I don't evangelize I guess. But what I do do is and not afraid to do is notice the woman sitting in the Dr's office 2 seats away from me who is in obvious pain and can't sit comfortably. What I can do is go over and sit beside her and ask if she's OK, that she looks like she's in pain. What I can do is listen to what she has to say. There is a cross that hangs around my neck and usually crosses hanging from my ears. It is no secret that I am a Christian. But I don't cram Christ on anyone.

I have come to realize that most won't get Christ. Arguing about it is not what Christ wants us to to. All we are called to do is plant the seeds. The rest is up to Jesus. So, that's what I do.

PS With the "seeing is believing" attitude, I used to be just like that. Until I died. I assure you Jesus is the real deal. I guess for me, it's what I needed to finally get me to see. Because of that horrible experience, I am truly free. If I happen on a hostile person who only wants to argue, I can simple ask them. "when was the last time you died?"  It works everytime. But that's unique to me.

Everyone has to find their own footing. Many blessings.
