Christians would yell at me if I asked this during church?

Why in the world do you say WW JD if you ridicule homosexuals, other religions, and people who get pregnant outside of marriage. If a fifteen year-old went to church with a baby bump don't deny some people would give that kid the lecture of her life. You also say "God says" but you should say "Someone who is power-hungry enough to lie and publish a book that they claim was written by God said"

I am not aiming this at all christians, just the ones who say that. If someone is wrong, let them be wrong, state your opinion gently, and let them do what they want! Please!

  1. Your opinions are born of american pop culture beliefs and not of the Bible and its traditions within the Church which is the context of your scenario.

The "shall not judge" quote is the free pass scripture for practicing evil for many.  Yet they cast away the admonishions of the very same author(Paul typically) who gives a better context to scripture in other verses. The quotes below are directed at fellow brothers and sisters in Christ.

9I wrote unto you in an epistle not to company with fornicators:

10Yet not altogether with the fornicators of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or with idolaters; for then must ye needs go out of the world.

11But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolator, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat.

12For what have I to do to judge them also that are without? do not ye judge them that are within?

13But them that are without God judgeth. Therefore put away from among yourselves that wicked person.

    Romans 15

14 Now I myself am confident concerning you, my brethren, that you also are full of goodness, filled with all knowledge, able also to ''''admonish'''' one another.

    2 Thessalonians 3

6 But we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you withdraw from every brother who walks disorderly and not according to the tradition which he[a] received from us.

    2 Thessalonians 3

13 But as for you, brethren, do not grow weary in doing good. 14 And if anyone does not obey our word in this epistle, note that person and do not keep company with him, that he may be ashamed. 15 Yet do not count him as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother.

    2 Timothy 3

16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for ''''''correction'''''', for instruction in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.

  4. Given that at the church I attend we have straight and g*y couples, straight and g*y singles, mixed race couples, single women with children, women who have had abortions, recovering addicts, the working poor, middle class folks, homeless folks and we all worship and fellowship together because we all accept each other as we are -- I really don't think anybody is going to yell at you at the church I attend.

Me:  g*y man who attends this church, and it's the first church where both my partner and I have ever felt fully accepted and that may be why we've been there ten years!

If other people want to attend the Exclusive Country Club of the Sanctified Elect, that's their business -- but I've attended those kinds of churches, found them woefully smug, self-satisfied and selfish, and really prefer the humble little church I attend where EVERYBODY is welcomed as an equal before God.

  5. Mary,

I feel your pain.  But also realize the robots that you are talking about, that can't think for themselves, but just respond with bible quotes, aren't going to hear you.  They are deaf to all forms of reason.  That is why they are a robot.

A robot, like the guy posting right above me.

  6. No I wouldn't yell at you. It is a good question and I hope you can find a person who you trust enough to ask it. I don't know  if you can message people on yahoo answers but if you can i'd be more than happy to disscuss it with you . :)

  7. That is how they have been taught: Love one another.  But only certain ones.
