Christin Tsai easily secures title berth in Canadian International Challenge – Badminton news
Canada’s Christin Tsai continued cheering up her home fans as she easily secured title berth after defeating Brazil’s Lohaynny Vicente in Women’s Singles semi-final of 2013 Ottawa Canadian International Challenge on Friday, June 28, in Ottawa.
The second seeded Christin, who remained unbeaten throughout the championship, continued live up to the expectations of her fans as she played flawless badminton and showed exit to her lower ranked opponent in just 30 minutes.
The Canadian lady was in superb form as she played with stunning speed throughout this semi-final clash and easily won it in straight games with an excellent 21-13 and 21-9 score on the board.
Meanwhile, the un-seeded Lohaynny failed to stretch her giant killing performance against her higher ranked local challenger. She could not produce better form to cope up with the aggression of her opponent and lost the match without creating a strong impact.
Christin was the favourite for this match as she was facing an un-seeded player who has reached in the semi-final of Canadian International for the first time.
The local shuttler started her journey in a confident and aggressive manner and she easily took a wonderful lead at opening stage. Her deceptive strokes at net and fast drops were quite impressive that earned her a considerable advantage on the board.
The second seeded Canadian shuttler executed powerful smashes in all areas of the court and created a huge gap on the board until the break.
After the interval, Christin resumed her play in the similar fashion and she progressed with an incredible speed. She bagged the first game with a huge 21-13 score on the board.
In the following set, Christin played with superb variations in her shots and she moved her opponent around the court. She was miles ahead until the one-minute break.
After the interval, Christin maintained pressure on Lohaynny without facing even a meagre resistance and she easily bagged the second game with a completely lopsided 21-9 score on the board.
In the final battle, Christin will be up against her third seeded compatriot, Michelle Li, who won her semi-final battle against the top seed Jamie Subandhi in a tremendous way.
