Christina Kim says mental distress took a toll on her performance and life
American Christina Kim might, who is a prominent player on the LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) Tour, has recently said that she has been going through a severe mental stress for the last few months, which has kept her from playing golf properly.
Kim, who has been winless in the current season, is struggling to find her form and has often complained about not playing up to the mark.
The American star recently shared her story through her personal blog, saying she has not been mentally fit for a long time, and this is what has actually kept her from enjoying her life and the sport.
She Kim writes that nothing in her life has been as difficult as coping with mental dissatisfaction, and she has often thought of ending her life.
In addition to off-course woes, the 28-year-old golfer has been having trouble with her game as well. Her putting, which once used to be her salient feature, has deteriorated over the months, taking a serious toll on her overall performance.
Kim might have been silent about what caused the mental distress, but now she has let her fans know why she has been faltering on and off the course for months.
She writes in her blog that ever since she had back strain in Thailand in the 2010 season, her life has been upset.
“This has been my life for the last two years. I don't know when it started, or what caused this, but it has had me in its grips for the better part of two years,” she shared.
Kim went on to say that she had been so stressed out last year that she had started thinking of committing a suicide.  She said that 2011 was the year when she’d had the fantasies of killing herself.
“People so freely use the term 'I could kill myself', and I am ready to admit I have used said term, or something like it, on many occasions. ... This feeling fell upon me for the first time in the beginning of 2011,” Kim said.
“I would be driving down a winding road, and suddenly feel the desire to wrench the steering wheel into an oncoming car”.
