Christine Magnuson and Brittany Elmslie shine in Tucson events - Southwest Classic 2011
Olympic medallist, Christine Magnuson of the United States of America picked up the top seed in the Women’s 100m butterfly event and won the golden crown with a fastest time of 59.55 seconds at the 2011 Southwest Classic meet in Tucson, Arizona, on June
13.  
Christine Magnuson is a well-known swimmer of the US, who represents the Tucson Ford club. Magnuson claimed two silver titles in the Women’s 100m butterfly and 4x100m medley relay finals at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. Besides, she won one silver title
in the Women’s 4x100 medley event at the 2010 World Championships in Dubai. She also picked up one silver and one bronze title at the 2010 Pan Pacific Championships in Irvine.
At the moment, the Tucson Ford’s swimmer is preparing herself for the upcoming FINA World Championships in Shanghai, this July. The championship is scheduled to take place in China from July 16-31.
Placed second in the Women’s 100m breast-stroke meet was Seebohm with a victorious time of 59.61 seconds. Seebohm touched the finishing wall first to secure the top place on the podium. In the meantime, the Women’s 200m butter-fly crown was nabbed by Santa
Clara swimmer, Charlotte Ruby, after she ended her swim with a winning time of 2 minutes and 16.74 seconds.
In the Women’s 200m freestyle event, Brittany Elmslie of Australia took home the golden crown in the respective meet after she touched the finishing wall in a fastest time of 2 minutes and 03.31 seconds. Securing second spot in the 200m freestyle final was
Melissa Ingram of New Zealand, with a winning time of 2 minutes and 04.09 seconds. After the race, Melissa told that the overall conditions for swimming were great and comfortable at Tucson.
In another meet at the event, the Women’s 200m back-stroke crown was taken over by Ingram after she ended her swim in a sterling time of 2 minutes and 13.23 seconds. Ingram claimed that she put her best effort in the Women’s 200m back-stroke race to secure
the title.
