Christine Magnuson clinches Women’s 100 yards butterfly gold – AT&T Winter National Championships
Christine Magnuson of FORDAZ clinched gold medal of the Women’s 100 yards butterfly on second day of the 2012 AT&T Winter National Championships in Austin, TX, USA on Friday, November 30.
Magnuson dictated terms to her opponents in the four-lap discipline as she went full rampant in the playoff and secured the title.
She faced tough contest from Kendyl Stewart of USC-CA from the start but with her impeccable pace in the butterfly discipline, Magnuson managed to outperform her over the wall for the title.
She remained hardly an inch ahead of her closest competitor and tapped the wall for gold medal by producing a time of 51.86 seconds.
The champion was chased by Stewart, who was 0.03 seconds slower from her preceding swimmer and stepped on the medal rostrum for silver medal by producing a time of 51.89 seconds.
The second position holder was followed by Kathleen Hersey of TXLAST, who stayed 0.15 seconds slower from her former finisher and surfaced on the finishing end as third fastest swimmer by clocking a time of 52.04 seconds.
Fourth spot of the event was obtained by Janet Hu of NCAPPV, who was 0.36 seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and reached the finishing blockade by concluding her race in a time of 52.40 seconds.
Subsequently, fifth spot of the event was obtained by Jasmine Tosky of USC-CA, who suffered a deficit of only 0.02 seconds from her foregoing finisher and tapped the wall with an effort of 52.42 seconds.
Tosky was traced by Lauren Smart of ZONAAZ, who was only 0.07 seconds slower from her former swimmer and hit the finishing end for sixth position by reporting a time of 52.49 seconds.
Seventh position of the race was secured by Kelsey Amundsen of UT-ST, who was 0.44 seconds slower and reached the finishing end with an effort of 52.93 seconds.
Last position of the race was obtained by Megan Lafferty of ZONAAZ, who was 0.03 seconds slower and posted a time of 52.96 seconds.
Furthermore, Magnuson was happy with her gold finish and raked medal for her notable form after the event.
