This year for Christmas I'm going to be in Europe. Are their any countries that have really cool Christmases? I'm from New Zealand, so for us Christmas is i summer, so I really want snow, and all of the traditional stuff. Any Ideas?

  1. Welcome to the official Christmas country -Finland! Northern lights, reindeer, bobsleighing, snowmobiling, and lots of snow and ice are waiting for you alongside the home place of Santa Claus in Rovaniemi near the Arctic Circle!

  2. All of the other suggestions are good. Some other places to consider: Prague has more than one great Christmas market including the one in Old Town Square - try the trdelnik and honey wine to keep warm. Copenhagen opens Tivoli Park for the Christmas season there are lots of good Christmas animations and a really nice Christmas market, skating on the lake, and the other park attractions. Vienna also has a good Christmas market set up in front of and inside the city hall.

  3. Two places that are great for Christmas and are relatively friendly... GERMANY or ENGLAND! Either one is a winner. Germany isn't so big on presents but the food is great and your almost certain to have a white Christmas. Also its where the tradition of having a Christmas tree is from. What better reason to have Christmas in Germany!

Good Luck and an early Happy Christmas to you and yours!

  4. Germany has amazing things for Christma fun. They have the Christmas market places in most every city you go to. The msot popular are those in Nuremberg, Dresden, and Stuttgart. They have lots of shopping, food, and fun.

  5. I would go for something else. If you want real Christmas and not the commercial version flooded by tourists and sales offers then try whatever country you want (Eastern Europe is a nice choice for genuine living traditions, Northern Europe can be fun as well) but go in a rural area. Not in country capitals, not in the large cities. Try spending Christmas with locals in a village (or a farm, or a monastery, or... you get the point) where nature overwhelms and religion is part of everyday life.
