Christmas Day’s Best: Top Moments of December 25, 2010
Christmas day witnessed some incredible performances by five NBA teams, who brought their talents to the court in order to entertain their fans with victory on the great
occasion of Christmas. Fortunately, the New York Knicks, Orlando Magic, Miami Heat, Oklahoma City Thunders, and Golden State Warriors passed the test with flying colors.
Here are some of the most eye-catching moments of the night, handpicked to give you the crux of Christmas Day’s Best action:
Dunk of the Night
Nuggets forward Nene contributed 21 points and grabbed 12 rebounds in Denver's 114-106 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunders. Nene
did all he could, and grabbed a long rebound midway through the first quarter in Denver's tenth defeat of the season.
He then led the Thunder defenders to the other end of the court, where he finished by launching in the lane and grabbed a rim-rattling dunk. Nene brought the ball up the
floor, and served up a fantastic dunk, which added two points to tie the game for Nuggets at 10-10 with seven and a half minutes left in the first quarter.
Assist of the Night
Kobe Bryant scored 17 points, while Lamar Odom had 14 points and nine rebounds in the Los Angeles Lakers 96-80 home defeat against the Miami Heat.
Bryant said after the game, "I think these games mean more to our opponents than they mean to us. I think we need to get that straight...I don't like it."
Although the Lakers lost the game, Bryant did all he could and earned the title of best assist of the Christmas night. The Lakers and Heat started the contest with the
same velocity, and the game was tied at 2-2, with one basket each by both teams. However, Bryant provided an incredible assist to Odom, who scored with a slam-dunk to put the Lakers ahead by two points (4-2) with over 10 minutes remaining in the opening quarter.
Block of the Night
Amar'e Stoudemire contributed 20 points and ten rebounds, as all five Knicks starters scored in double digits to lead the New York Knicks to a 103-95 victory over the
Chicago Bulls at Madison Square Garden in New York.
Stoudemire said after the game, "We did a beautiful job defensively. They're a really good defensive team, but for us we've been talking about defence now for the past
- actually the whole year - but more so the past week about communicating, helping the helper, so it's really showing."
Wearing Christmas colors, Stoudemire rocked the home court and took the title of Block of the night, by blocking Derrick Rose’s basket at the rim.
Steal of the Night
Derrick Rose did all he could and contributed 25 points, eight assists and seven rebounds for the Chicago Bull’s in their loss against the New York Knicks.
Although Derrick’s contribution was not enough to provide his team with the victory, however he brought the fans to their feet with a fantastic steal on the night. Rose
moved back into defence, made the steal, and finished with a lay-up that cut the Knicks lead to one at 7-8 with six and a half minutes to play in the first quarter.
