Question:

Christmas gifts for kids?

I have two kids (7 and 4), I'm starting to get my Christmas lists together to start buying somethings. I was thinking about a wii, but it would be about $500 once you get everything for it. That seems like a lot of money to me. What do you think? I get so stressed out, I'm starting early, I guess. I don't want to spend too much and don't want to spend too little. Thinking about saving up money a little every month and get them one next Christmas.

  1. I am with those who think a Wii is a bit much at that age. Besides, it may start them off on bad habits like not doing school work. When it comes to my nieces and nephews of similar age everything from tea sets to balls (depending on if a boy or girl, we have two of each) is still quite the rage as are stuffed animals and all the simple things. No point in going for high tech stuff until they begin to ask for them is the thinking in our family.

  2. They are very young. They don't need a Wii to make them happy. Start with some simple things like a pool, playground, or some clothes. They are too young to get materialistic.

  3. I don't think they are old enough to take care of it correctly and it most likely will get broke and then that was 500 down the drain.  I would wait at least another year or two to get them one, but even then I think that is to much to spend on a game system.

  4. I agree with the first person that answered, they're too young and the Wii is not something (even if you did buy it) they would be super excited to see Christmas morning.

I actually just changed my mind on getting a Wii for my daughter, who is 6...she's not worried about a Wii, she doesn't talk about it, so why waste money.

Go with learning video games instead. LeapFrog always offers great products. They have the Leapster 2, Tag Reading System, FLY pen (for your 7 year old) and they also have Didj.

I mean of course, they're gonna get some games that are not so educational and more fun, but as far as a video game, I wouldnt get the Wii just yet.
