  1. Don't worry about the weather. I grew up in a tropical island and I loved spending Christmas in France or in other colder countries. It adds to the spirit of Christmas when you eat a lot and you want to feel cozy inside...

and i love Christmas in France. It is one of the best christmas I had. The food is fantastic, the atmosphere is awesome, and in the winter you don't count the calories! perfect!

enjoy! and you know last year France did not have a real "winter" so maybe this year it will be the same ;-)

  2. I was in Paris during Christmas/New Years.  I was frozen to the bone.  We spent all day everyday sightseeing and it was bitter cold in my opinon also the weatehr was dreary and it rained on New Years Eve.  BUT there were less tourists to deal with and I liked that although many places were closed.  if you're on the Champs Elysees make reservations and eat at Laduree it was divine!

  3. Hi, the first time that i visited Paris was for Christmas, and i was very surprised than the 24 of december at night all the bars and restaurant were open as a normal day. Who tell you that are closing, not the 24 or after . And about the weather it's not so bad, take some winter clothes and that's all.

    Don't miss the experience!!!

    Good luck!!

  4. Wear a coat, maybe a hat and a scarf.  You can buy them on site.  If you get too cold, you can always stop in a cafe and warm up with a chocolat chaud.

  5. I was there for Christmas last year. it wasn't that cold but still we had to wear jackets, coats, gloves and beanie. It was fun as it was a home stay vacation. Christmas eve is cooking cookies  and Christmas day you just sit at the table drink and eat the whole day!!! the we went for a walk around to process the food and when we got back it was time for dinner!!! Oh bring a good cream for your body and chap stick for your lips. Dont scratch no matter how itchy your skin gets.  Drink heaps of water. Have fun.

  6. While it is cold during the Christmas season in France the weather is not as bad as you might think.

The average high temperature is 7 degrees Celsius/45 degrees Fahrenheit, and the average low is 2 Celsius, 36 Fahrenheit.  There usually will be only two days with snow during the month.

If you are a tourist, staying in the city center, things won't be that bad.

I'm from East Texas where summer temperatures are usually above 100 degrees Fahrenheit and I don't find Paris in the winter to be oppressively cold.

  7. Having lived in France for two years and a bit, I experienced Christmas.

It's uncomfortably cold, This makes it hard to see certain sites. If you bundle up with your French scarf and a nice hat you'll be fine.

Stores seemed to be open their normal times making exception to the 24th and the 25th.

The first time I was in Normandy, had I been in the countryside it may have been different, but having lived in Rouen I saw the spirit of Christmas destroyed. Presents presents presents seemed to be the objective of all the stores during Christmas.

If you have some contacts and are able to stay with them, you'll experience one of the greatest Christmas's of your life because in French homes during this time it's all about the family and my favorite, eating!

The Christmas Eve and Christmas Day meals are amazing! They go all out preparing special meals that you'll only find at this time of the year.

The weather might be a problem, but France is beautiful whether it's sunny of rainy-cold!
