Christoph Sauser wins the second stage of the Trans Zollernalb 2012 and claims the yellow jersey
Christoph Sauser of Team Specialized claimed the second stage of the Trans Zollernalb 2012 after his superb performance during the 82 kilometre chase to Albstadt.
He took a total time of 2 hours, 50 minutes and 26 seconds and restricted his major opponents to secure an important victory for his side.
Alban Lakata of Team Topeak-Ergon Racing fell six seconds short at the second position with Moritz Milatz of Team BMC Racing, Markus Kaufmann of Team Centurion-Vaude and Robert Mennen of Topeak-Ergon Racing Team securing the third, fourth and fifth positions
respectively.
"I didn't want to take any risks" Sauser said after the race.
"Tomorrow, probably the intermediate sprints will be decisive, and I am not known as a good sprinter".
Sauser’s tremendous performance during the second stage has now earned him the yellow jersey with a lead of three seconds on Alban Lakata of Team Topeak-Ergon Racing and further 1 minute 14 seconds on Moritz Milatz of Team BMC-Racing.
"It was okay, but the last part of the day, I was totally empty. Probably because of the weather," Milatz was quoted as saying.
Markus Kaufmann of Team Centurion-Vaude is holding the fourth overall position after the stage 2 classifications.
Kauffmann is accompanied by Robert Mennen, Hannes Genze, Kevin Van Hoovels, Simon Stiebjahn, Matthias Pfrommer and Sebastien Carabin achieved at next six positions.
Esther Sub of Team Wheeler Ixs Pro wins the Elite Women category of the race with an impressive time of 3 hours, 24 minutes and 36 seconds with a photo-finish over Sabine Spitz of Team Sabine Spitz Haibike Pro Team.
Borghild Loevset of Team Orkla Ck finished third with Gabi Stanger of Team Centurion Vaude and Kim Saenen holding the fourth and the fifth positions respectively.
 "I was totally empty because I didn't take in enough food. But I am happy to be with them for such a long time" Loevset briefed.
Max Friedrich of Team Topeak-Ergon Racing is leading the Master 1 general classifications after the second stage with Lars Ragnar Manengen of Team Lillehammer Ck and Peter Reiche of Team Black Tusk Racing at the second and the third positions.
