Christophe Clement‘s charge Right One eyes victory in the Grade 3 Poker Stakes on 4th July, 2012
Trainer Christophe Clement is looking to saddle his third Graded victory with, Right One, in the Grade 3, $150,000 Poker Stakes on 4th July, 2012, at Belmont Park.
The renowned trainer landed the Grade 2 New York Stakes with, Mystical Star, on 30th June, 2012, and the Grade 3 Hill Prince with, Summer Front, on 16th June, 2012. Both races covered the distance of 1 ¼ miles.
Right One, will take on the mile track on turf with the hope of redeeming himself from the performance he delivered in the Grade 3 Jaipur Stakes at the same track on 8th June, 2012, where he was paired up with jockey, Julien R. Leparoux, but lost the victory to the Michelle Nihei trained, Upgrade.
Assistant trainer, Christophe Lorieul, said of the son of Anabaa, foaled by mare Riziere, that he has been doing consistently well in his work-outs, and has returned to his winning form which he will have a chance to show off in the Poker Stakes.
He told the media that:
“He had a good work [last week], and the horse is in good form, so hopefully we can turn the tables from the Jaipur,” he further added: “The key with him is to track another horse for as long as possible and to make a move at the very last minute. He has a good turn of foot, but not a great turn of foot.”
Chances are, Right One, will perform well but there is a bigger chance that the other runners in the line-up won’t make it easy for the six-year-old.
This older division race has attracted some of the best runners, and they all have what it takes to land the race.
One of the most threatening prospects, Right One, will face on the track is Bruce Brown’s charge, Compliance Officer.
Regarding the six-year-old gelding, the trainer stated:
“This is kind of a lull in the New York-bred races, so this seemed like a good opportunity to see how he stacks up against open company.”
Right One, finished third in the Poker Stakes on 10th June, 2011, but this time the Ghislaine Head owned runner will try to ace it. It can only be hoped that his attempts don’t go in vain.
