The game ended in a goalless draw between the two sides, as both the clubs struggled to convert their chances. AS Saint-Etienne seemed to be the better of the two sides, however, they had to settle for a draw at the Stade Chaban Delmas.
The Frenchman’s arrival at the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard has turned out to be a good decision by the club administration. Galtier has been leading the French outfit to a better finish every season. And this time the former footballer sets his sight on a European
spot. The coach expressed his view after the game:
"We weren't rewarded and the opposition prevented us from finishing off our moves. We were a bit clumsy too.”
Despite the stalemate, the tactician feels pleased with his players. The 46-year-old was afraid that the French side might be shaky in terms of their confidence and form, following the defeat to close rivals in the Derby http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Du-c11689 Rhone. However, Les Verts came
out as strongly as ever, and displayed a solid performance. Galtier said:
“I'm pleased with the showing off the back of the derby defeat. I thought we played intelligently and with maturity. We had better chances than them (0-0) at Bordeaux, who are playing in Europe, is a good result even if we deserved better.”
The former assistant coach is optimistic regarding the future, as he feels confident that the club had a good start to the season. The French tactician explained the situation:
“We've only lost one of our last 15 games and we need to beat Lorient at the weekend. That will be hard as they're in form. If we've got 30 points at the winter break then that will be good.”
