The Saint-Etienne coach wants maximum points against the struggling Ligue 1 outfit on Friday, in order to get back in the top half of the table
Le Verts are set to face 19th placed Les Chardons in their next game of the 2012/2013 Ligue 1 campaign at Stade Geoffroy-Guichard.
The hosts aren’t in the best of forms at the moment winning only once in their last six league outings. And coach, Christophe Galtier wants to change that when his side face Ligue 1 strugglers, Nancy, this Friday.
While talking to reporters before the Friday clash, the 46-year-old stated that Saint-Etienne have been wasteful this season and they need to start winning matches before it’s too late.
The coach added that the players are playing with confidence, and they need to continue playing like that in order to achieve club’s objectives this season.
"We need to start picking up points, but we should continue playing the same way we have been, and with the same spirit," he insisted.
Galtier said that Le Verts have been really unlucky this season and things aren’t going their way at the moment. However, the coach believes that if they continue playing with same will and determination, Saint-Etienne are bound to get back to winning ways
sooner rather than later.
The former Marseille coach has asked the players to stay focused and believes that his side will soon start winning matches.
"It is up to us to start putting the ball in the net. If we maintain the same will to win, then we will be compensated for our efforts and things will start smiling for us. We need results but the desire to do so should not stop us from playing."
On the other hand, Nancy coach, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jean-c18112 Fernandez is remaining upbeat about his side’s chances of surviving in the Ligue 1 despite getting off to a poor start in the league.
“The league is not decided after seven games, but after 38. At that point, I hope the club will still be in Ligue 1.”
