With just 12 points on the table, Saint-Etienne are 10th in the league after the end of Week 9, and coach, Christophe Galtier feels that his side needs to hit top form soon if they want to achieve their targets this season.
The 46-year-old has expressed his satisfaction after seeing his side draw against OGC Nice on Saturday. Given the fact that Nice missed a penalty in the game, the coach feels that Les Verts were lucky to get away with a point in the end.
Praising the opposing team, the Frenchman said that Nice have been playing really well lately and they are certain to cause all kinds of trouble to the other teams in the league.
“Given how the game played out, and the fact that Nice missed a penalty, it's a point won for us tonight against a side who will surprise a lot of people this season.”
Talking about Saint-Etienne’s performance on the pitch, the coach said that his side played with great composure but they failed to convert their chances that cost them in the end.
“My team played some promising football on the pitch but we didn't take our chances.”
Galtier said that football is a funny game and there are days when things don’t go the way you want. However, the coach is upbeat about his side’s chances this season and has urged the players to bring improvement in their game to achieve their targets.
“There are matches when the ball just seems to want to go in, others where it doesn't. Sometimes it's the opposition 'keeper, sometimes it's fatigue or a lack of concentration after an international break. We need to keep our positive dynamic of taking points
going."
AS Saint-Etienne take on Stade Rennais in their next game of the 2012/2013 Ligue 1 campaign.
