AS Saint-Etienne have been unable to secure a win their last five Ligue 1 fixtures, and that has certainly disappointed club coach, Christophe Galtier. The Frenchman wants Les Verts to perform strongly in their upcoming fixture against Toulouse FC, expecting
nothing less than a win to secure all three points.
Despite appearing as strong contenders for a UEFA Champions League berth this season, the Rhone-based club failed to perform well during the end of 2012. The recent poor form delivered a serious blow to their European dream. However, the French outfit would
try to forget their poor exhibition of late, and start the new-year with a strong display.
Galtier believes that Les Verts need to show real character, just as they have in the past. The coach wants St. Etienne aim for the win in their upcoming fixture against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Toulouse-FC-c40751, who like them have also been a victim of shaky performances. The tactician
explained:
“There are always emergencies in football, but of course we have to win if we want to keep in touch in the league, and be strong mentally. That starts against Toulouse on Friday, against an opponent which is always difficult to get past.”
The former Toulouse FC player knows that these points mean a lot to both of the sides, in their struggle to finish the 2012/13 season by securing a European spot. The Frenchman added:
"The two teams need to pick up points in January. It's up to us to have the right attitude and quality in our play."
The 46-year-old believes that the fixture against Les Pitchouns is a must-win, as this would provide his team the much needed boost to rejuvenate their good form. The coach acknowledged that despite the defeat at the hands of fellow Ligue 1 club earlier
this season, it was a good game for both of the sides. He said:
“We'll have to do everything to dominate and to win. We lost in the first game between us this season, but it's a good memory because, after that, we went on a good run.”
