Christophe Lemaitre announces to be a part of the field at the Fédération Monégasque d'Athlétisme
French Sprinter, Christophe Lemaitre, who specialises in 100m and 200m runs, has ensured his participation for a 100m meet at the Louis II Stadium, which is going to host the 10th stop of the 2011 Samsung Diamond League, on July 22, 2011.
The event, organised by the Fédération Monégasque d'Athlétisme, is scheduled to commence in Monaco just a month ahead of the IAAF World Championships Athletics in Daegu. The meet will also have the privilege of seeing Jamaican star and three times world
and Olympic gold medallist, Usain Bolt.
Athletes world around could not agree on the point that whether taking part in a competition just ahead of some major contest is good for them or not. According to a general observation, some of the players are of the view that in order to emerge in a bigger
event, it is essential for them to retain their energies and avoid possible injuries. While to others, competing provides a chance to have an account of the loopholes in their preparation. Regardless of what others think about the phenomenon, the 21-year old
Frenchman has decided to compete in the upcoming event.
Triple European Champion, Lemaitre, holds France’s National record for clocking an emphatic 9.95 seconds. Officially, he is the first white man to display a sub-ten performance. For the distance of 200m run, he ties the national record with former French
sprinter, Gilles Queneherve, who specialised in the distance.
Lemaitre, who is being considered as the most formidable part of the French contingent for the world championships at Daegu, had marked his dominance over the 100m, 200m and 4x100m relay just a year ago at the European Championships. After his tremendous
performance, he emerged as the first sprinter ever to accomplish this task, which also culminated in regarding him as the fastest man in Europe.
Interestingly, while entering in an event that has been scheduled about a month ahead of the world championships, Lemaitre will encounter some of the top athletes in the sport. Some of the big names he will be competing against for the title are comprised
of Usain Bolt, Francis Obikwelu, Yohan Blake and Mike Rodgers.
