The Saint-Etienne coach wants to go all the way after seeing Les Verts put in an impressive performance to earn a comfortable 3-0 win over Sochaux at Stade Auguste Bonal
The club from Eastern http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 was really impressive last night as they registered a comfortable win in Coupe de la Ligue and sealed a place in the quarter final stages of the competition in the process.
Sochaux were unable to stop an impressive Saint-Etienne side, and ASSE coach, Christopher Galtier believes that it was one of the best performances from his side this season.
While talking to reporters, the 46-year-old stated that it’s a great night for everyone at the club and Saint-Etienne achieved their objectives against Sochaux. Les Verts want to go all the way in Coupe de la Ligue and Galtier feels that Tuesday’s win was
the first step in that regard.
Talking about his side’s performance on the pitch, the coach said that Saint-Etienne managed to score early in the game which helped his side to great extent. However, the coach believes that his side dozed off a little in the dying moment of the first half
and feels that Les Verts were lucky to get away with that.
“Everyone's smiling tonight, the club and the supporters - because we accomplished our mission. Scoring early helped a lot even though we dozed off a bit at the end of the first half.”
Praising goalkeeper, Stephane Ruffier, the coach added that the shot-stopper was brilliant last night and he pulled out some amazing saves to deny Sochaux a chance to get back in the game.
“Luckily for us, Stephane Ruffier was there to pull out some huge saves. Coupe de la Ligue is one of the club's objectives this season, we're not hiding that fact."
Meanwhile, Sochaux coach, Eric Hely has congratulated Saint-Etienne over the win and feels that his side didn’t play to their potential last night and he is disappointed with Les Lionceaux’s performance.
"I'd like to congratulate Saint-Etienne, who turned in an excellent performance. We played well in the first half, even though we conceded early, but I was bitterly disappointed by our second-half performance.”
