A couple weeks ago my brother and his friend bought these 2 chubby frogs from the pet store. The crickets we buy seem to die easily. Does anyone know if there is an alternative to feeding them live crickets?

  1. wax worms or meal worms would work buy meal worms are really hard to get now(i dont know why)

  2. Are you gut loading your crickets prior to feeding them to your frogs? This means giving them a diet packed with nutrients. Pet stores sell these fortified foods and water for crickets.

The alternatives are only to be fed sparingly. Waxworms are very fatty and should be offered as treats. Mealworms are a little harder to digest for your pet.

Pet stores do sell dried crickets, but they are not as nutritious, and the odds of a frog going after something that doesn't move are slim.

  3. Do you give the crickets a food source? If you put in some shredded carrots they ought to live longer. You can even put vitamins in the carrots so the frogs are healthier!

  4. Crickets need to eat too you know! House them in a plastic container with a thin layer of sand or paper towels at the bottom. A peice of egg carton to climb on is good to have too.  Flukers orange cube cricket diet with a peice of white bread on the side is fine. Crickets eat a lot! So replenish food daily even if theres some left.
