my little man is 2 and half yrs old, he's a wee bit on the chubby side and as i was checking his car seat it says its olnly suitable for 18kg, he;s nearly 19kg!!! problem being that most car seats only go to 18kg and im not sure if i should put him in a booster seat now or keep him in his seat. he's about 90cm tall . thanks

  1. Ah someone else who has the same problem as me. My baby has just turned 2 and is also very long and big for his age. I brought a new car seat which is from 9months to 12 years and has the harness straps. It grows with your child, worth th e investment. A booster is no good as my son can get out of it, no matter how i fasten the seat belt. I provided the link to the car seat i recently brought. I would definitely recommend it. Wish i had brought it ages ago.

  2. They make carseats up to 80 lbs. and sometimes 100 lbs.

  3. i agree with the others that your little one should probably still be in a 5 point harness.  However, if you are determined to put him in a booster, either get a high back booster with a seatbelt adjustment on the side of it, or buy a seat belt adjuster for the shoulder strap along with a booster seat - DO NOT put your child in a booster with only the lap belt - it can KILL your child

  4. You can get a booster seat that has an attatched back on it, so you strap him in with the car seatbelt but he still has extra support.  I think this would certainly be safer than keeping him in a car seat not designed to hold his weight.

ANYONE CARE TO SHARE WHY I RECIEVED NEGATIVE VOTES! I answered the question that was asked?

  5. NOOOO DO NOT get a booster they do not have the teather strap to connect to the car iself and in auto accidents too many seatbelts fail...

Go to youtube, search for "5 pt harness Kyle" it will bring u to a video if little Kyle Miller (have tissues ready) I refuse to put my son in a booster seat.  Check out Britax Regent car seats they hold children up to 80lbs.  I didnt know Kyle but his story left an everlasting impression on me.  On the right had side of "Kyle's story" there are other "related" videos one of which showing you the difference between a 5pt harness carseat vs a booter seat.... something ALL MOMS SHOULD EDUCATE THEMSELVES ABOUT.

  6. You can get a car seat that is bigger, like a booster but with the safety harness still.
