Chuck Hayes rendered fully fit by doctors from the Cleveland Clinic - NBA update
Chuck Hayes, whose contract was terminated by Sacramento Kings a few days back due a heart abnormality which surfaced after the team carried out a routine echo test on all its players, has been cleared to play by the doctors from
the Cleveland clinic.
According to a statement released by his public-relations representative, reports of the further tests that were carried to spot the particulars of the abnormality have come out normal and doctors’ “recommendation is that he can
continue to play professional basketball without any concerns."
This definitely is great news for Hayes and his fans, however, the question that rises now is whether the Sacramento Kings medical personnel made a blunder and if yes, how Sacramento would compensate him?
For the entire mental trauma, Hayes can even take the team to the court; however he probably won’t be taking this route. Basketball is his bread and butter so he would now be looking to make a comeback. As he exclaimed;
"I'm just very thankful and blessed with the team of doctors at the Cleveland Clinic and the power of prayer. I am happy to say I have a healthy heart and have been cleared to play immediately. I look forward to getting back on
the court as soon as possible."
Kings coach Paul Westphal hinted at Hayes return to the Sacramento in a few days however he did not confirm whether Hayes would be resigning or not.
An anonymous source said that Sacramento are working on finalizing a deal that would be better than the original $ 21 million, which the team offered him earlier, however it is not yet confirmed by the team.
Hayes is not an elite player, but he was pretty handy last season and finished with an average of 7.9 points and 8.1 rebounds per game, good enough for the Kings to buy his rights from Houston Rockets. He was expected to make his
debut for Kings in the team’s preseason game against Golden State Warriors last Monday, however he was not played.
His heart complication was also a major setback for Kings as the season is due to start in 2-3 days, and to fill the defensive void left by Hayes, they had a huge task ahead of them. With him fully fit now, Kings would love to
have him back, especially after losing out Samuel Dalembert to the Rockets.
