Chun Seang Tan beats David Obernosterer to grab Men’s Singles title at Bulgarian Hebar Open 2012
Malaysia’s emerging shuttler Chun Seang Tan put up an amazing performance and grabbed Men’s Singles title after defeating Austria’s David Obernosterer at the final clash of Bulgarian Hebar Open 2012 in Bulgaria, on Sunday, May 27.
The top seeded Chun Seang, who has been showing his incredible skills in all matches in the competition, continued his staggering performance in the final battle and overpowered his lower ranked Austrian opponent in an impressive fashion.
The higher ranked Malaysian could not play dominating badminton in the first game but showed his brilliance in the following sets to his mark over his rival in a rubber set game while consuming 42 minutes in the court.
On the other hand, David started his run in a thrashing manner and took the opening game but failed to live up to expectations in the following games and lost to Chun Seang in three games with a respectable margin.
In the first game, both shuttlers played with aggression but David took over the control and established a good lead over his higher ranked Malaysian rival until the one-minute interval.
After the break, the Malaysian tried to play focused game but failed to live up to expectations and lost the set with a one-sided 14-21 score on the board.
In the second game, Chun Seang changed his plan and started to play net shots which helped him to disturb the rhythm of his rival and managed to take a reasonable lead until the 60-second break.
After the interval, the Malaysian stretched his lead while remaining positive in the court and eventually took the set with a margin of 21-15.
In the third set, the Austrian tried to play fast badminton but failed to create gaps in his higher ranked opponent’s court.
Whereas Chun Seang continued playing focused badminton and he remained ahead on the score board until the break.
After the mid-game interval, the Malaysian did not drop his speed and wrapped up the game with a one-sided 21-10 margin on the board.
Chun Seang won the title match in 42 minutes with a phenomenal margin of 14-21, 21-15 and 21-10.
