Chun Seang Tan knocks out Tien Chen Chou to ease into Men’s Singles semi-final at US Open GP Gold
Malaysia’s talented shuttler Chun Seang Tan shut the mouths of critics as he stormed into Men’s Singles semi-final after giving a severe treatment to Tien Chen Chou of Chinese Taipei in quarter-final contest at the Yonex OCBC US Open GP Gold 2012 at Los Angeles, USA, on Thursday, July 5.
Chun Seang, who is number four seed in main round of Men’s Singles category, was in superb form as he did not face any trouble in taking his lower ranked Taipei challenger who was the sixth seeded shuttler in the tournament.
The in-form Malaysian was just uncontrollable on court as he showed a stunning performance in opening game and won it easily. He continued his incredible run in the second game and overpowered his rival in straight sets with a huge margin in just 17 minutes.
On the other hand, Tien Chen shocked with the cruel treatment of his higher ranked Malaysian opponent in the opening game. However, he played competitive badminton but again failed to stop his aggressive rival and lost to him with a one-sided score on the board.
In the first game, the Chun Seang stunned everyone by playing attacking and flawless badminton when he did not concede even a single point and took a staggering lead of 11-0 until the one-minute interval.
After the break, the Malaysian continued putting up thrashing performance and put up an unbelievable figure of 20-0.
Nevertheless, Tien Chen played with aggression and escaped a humiliating defeat in opening set as he scored 12 consecutive points in a row to reduce the deficit.
Chun Seang bagged the opening game of this interesting contest with a huge margin of 21-12.
In the second game, Tien Cheh showed his aggression and managed to remain close on the score board until the one-minute interval.
After the break, the higher ranked Chun Seang geared up his speed at net and kept the bird low from all areas. He was at his best form as he did not let his rival to show any resistance and took the set with 21-14 score on the board.
Chun Seang won the quarter-final battle against Tien Chen in two games of 17 minutes with a one-sided score of 21-12 and 21-14.
