Chun Seang Tan overpowers Osleni Guerrero to claim Men’s Singles title at Peru International
Malaysia’s emerging player Chun Seang Tan proved his supremacy in the arena when he nailed Men’s Singles title after beating Cuba’s in-form player Osleni Guerrero in the final contest of XVII Peru International 2012 on Sunday, April 15, in Peru.
Chun Seang, who is World Number 80 and seventh seed in Men’s Singles draw of the tournament, showed his impressive skills in the whole tournament and remained successful in winning the title.
In the title match, the higher ranked Malaysian did not spare any chance for his opponent to take charge of the game and won the battle in straight games in a remarkable fashion.
On the other hand, Guerrero could not live up to expectations as he played quivering game against the in-form Malaysian. He also failed to employ his usual strokes as his higher ranked opponent kept the pace at highest level.
Chun Seang started his journey in the title match in an impressive manner as he controlled the pace of rallies and also kept his lower ranked Cuban rival moving around in all corners of the court.
The Malaysian was better to his opponent in all areas of the court and remained miles ahead on the score board until the 60-second break in opening set.
After the break, Chun Seang continued his impressive progress in the game while keeping the pace of rallies high.
He did not let Guerrero to get his rhythm and remained successful in taking the game easily with a 21-15 score on the board.
In the second set, Guerrero tried to play his normal game but it was virtually impossible for him to cope up with the pace of his higher ranked Malaysian challenger.
In the meanwhile, took a remarkable lead until the mid-game interval in the second set.
After the break, Chun Seang maintained his elevated run in the court without showing any mercy to his lower ranked Cuban challenger.
The Malaysian continued his tremendous run in the court and managed to take the game impressively with a 21-11 score on the board.
Chun Seang clinched the title after winning the final fight in just 31 minutes with a fabulous margin of 21-15 and 21-11.
