Chun Seang Tan upsets Simon Santoso in Men’s Singles second round Yonex Denmark Open
Malaysia’s independent shuttler Chun Seang Tan played with tremendous precision and created a huge upset in Men’s Singles second round when he outshined his higher ranked opponent Simon Santoso of Indonesia at Yonex Denmark Open 2012 on Thursday, October
18, in Denmark.
The un-seeded Chun Seang, who has been placed at number 45 in Men’s Singles world ranking, played to his maximum potential and, for the first time in his professional career, he reached into the quarter-final of a Super Series tournament.
Chun Seang, who is also assistant coach in Austria, delivered a staggering performance on court and remained successful in winning the battle in straight games with a decent margin by taking just 37 minutes on court.
On the other hand, the fourth seeded Simon Santoso was shocked with the impressive pay of his rival and remained struggling throughout the contest and eventually crashed out without taking any advantage of his superior skills.
In the opening game, the underdog Malaysian shuttler was in remarkable form as he played with incredible speed in all areas and managed to create pressure on his rival.
Chun Seang was in superb form as he was quicker in the front court leaving no room for his rival to dominate the game at net and managed to end up the set with a dominating margin of 21-14.
In the following game, it was Santoso who put up spectacular show on court by playing attacking badminton from all areas and remained ahead of his Malaysian challenger all the way until the ending points.
Chun Seang was miles behind but he did not give up at any stage and forced his rival to commit mistakes.
Malaysian shuttler continued playing in the positive fashion and managed to win the second game with a 21-19 score on the board.
The impressive Chun Seang managed to win this second round battle in a tremendous fashion with a 21-14 and 21-19 score on the board.
