Chung Jae Sung thanks Lee Yong Dae for supporting throughout his career – Badminton Update
It seems Korean shuttler Chung Jae Sung believes that gratitude is the best attitude as he expressed his gratefulness to his partner Lee Yong Dae for standing by him in all the ups and downs of his career.
They have been together for last seven years and currently hold top spot in world rankings. The recently concluded 2012 London Olympics was their last major event as Chung intends to bid adieu to the arena.
The 29-year-old shuttler was looking for a gold medal in his last Olympic outing but his thirst was not filled as the Danish pair Mathias Boe-Carsten Mogensen cast them out of this race by winning the semi-final encounter.
However, Korean duo did not draw a blank and managed to snatch a bronze medal from Koo Kien Keat-Tan Boon Heong of Malaysia.
After sealing the victory in his last Olympic showdown, Chung got emotional and could not hold back his tears. He declared this medal a significant achievement and thanked his partner for being there all the time.
He said, "We competed in a lot of events under pressure leading up to the Olympics, but Lee never complained. I am grateful that he stayed with me all these years."
They registered a splendid straight-set win by putting 23-21 and 21-10 score against World Number eight Malaysian duo Kien Keat-Boon Heong.
This timely success fetched them a place with Cai Yun-Fu Haifeng and Mathias Boe-Carsten Mogensen on the victory stand of the London Games.
The World Championships silver medallist Chung Jae Sung looked content that this year their performance was far better than 2008 Beijing Olympics.
He gave all the credit to his junior partner Lee Yong Dae and declared him the best companion. He also stated that this experience will really help him after the retirement.
Chung said, "I got to play with the best partner you could ever hope for and we did our best until the very end. I think this experience will be a huge asset for me down the road in my post-playing career."
The badminton lovers are eagerly waiting to see him in his next role as rumours are there that Chung will start coaching career after quitting the game.
