Chung Sung Han beats Ayub Nur Mohd Azriyn in first round of Badminton Asia Youth U-19 Championships
Chinese Taipei’s talented shuttler, Chung Sung Han overpowered Malaysia’s Ayub Nur Mohd Azriyn, in the Boy’s Singles first round of the 2011 Badminton Asia Youth U-19 Championships, at Lucknow, India, on Wednesday, June 6.
It was one of the most entertaining matches of the day, as both shuttlers played high quality badminton. Sung Han had to dig deep into his arsenal to bring out winning strokes to chuck out his opponent in a superb rubber-set fight, which took a court time
of 49 minutes.
Sung Han remained dominant in the opening set of the match, where he controlled the pace of the rallies by becoming quick at net. His tumbling net strokes disturbed the momentum of his rival and earned him a good lead in the opening part of the first game.
The following part also remained the same for the Taipei’s shuttler, as he maintained the speed of the game throughout the set. Mohd Azriyn, who was the eighth seed in the event, failed to stop the spirited run of Sung Han, who was playing flawless badminton.
The Taipei shuttler finished the first game in 17 minutes, with a margin of 21-14.
The Malaysian bounced back in the following set by playing a different game, as he put more variations in his strokes and his shot selection was also perfect this time. He dominated the game right from the start and maintained a good speed throughout the
game. Sung Han failed to continue his winning form in this set and lost it by a margin of 16-21, in 20 minutes.
Surprisingly, Sung Han raised his game to the highest level by employing everything he had in his possession. His execution of strokes from everywhere in the court was perfect, as he played positively in the whole set and won it in just 12 minutes with the
stunning difference of 21-8. The entertaining fight ended in favour of Sung Han, with a score of 21-14, 16-21 and 21-8, in 49 minutes.
