  1. Your right, there should be a blown fuse. Check to see if someone has put too big of a fuse in that receptacle. Better yet, replace the bad cigarette lighter or get rid of it all together.


  2. maybe someone has put a heaver fuse in the fuse block. buy a new lighter. if that don't work try a new lighter socket

  3. No, the Cigarette lighter sticking, in and of itself, won't blow the fuse any more than it would if it was working normally. It's just a flaw in the release mechanism that makes it stay in. It's not taking any more Amps than normal, just doing it for a long time. Could conceivably cause a fire though, especially if you have a real good battery! A new element (the part that's supposed to pop out) should fix the problem.

  4. If the lighter circuit shorts to ground, it will blow the fuse.  If the lighter sticks in the socket, I would think that it would overheat and burn out the heating element, or as a worst case scenario, cause a fire.  I've never heard of one killing the battery.
